| Working at home in Geneva Canton
We just moved to Geneva and I expect to obtain a "carte de légitimation" (not sure what this is called in English) through my wife. I believe I will then have to apply for a "livret Ci" (Ci permit?) in order to be able to work here. My work involves editing scientific documents at home for a single "client" company in Asia which pays me by the page.
I have read through a certain number of threads and found a lot of useful information and it appears that I will have to do the following.
(1) Register at the local town hall.
(2) Register as self-employed at the AHV office (Is this the same as the AVS?)
(3) Pay up to 9.5% of my net income to AHV/AVS.
(4) At some point, file a tax return and pay income tax.
Does this sound correct?
I am also wondering how much income tax I will have to pay, but since my wife will not pay tax in Switzerland, I am not quite sure what category this puts me in.
Many thanks.
