Hello All,

I think I should just put my fate into my own hands.

I can come up with 20,000CHF and want to set up a business as self-employed with a business plan that promises to hire some Swiss peeps eventually.

3 Questions:
1. Can anyone recommend an accountant
2. Any idea of costs for this accountant
3. Will this accountant be the peerson to apply for me a permit? Will it be an L permit?

No I don't. (I assume you mean business). Not at the moment.

I have a Bahamas passport so hope that is not another hindrance.

to set up a gmbh the firm needs a minimum of 2 partners. as i came here as an eu citizen, i wasn't able to set up a business. at that time no b permit could work as a free lancer, but recently some dude in this forum told me that the regulations changed since then.

...I hope it is the same for me being non EU. But I think I can get 2 partners. I have a friend who is Swiss and another friend from Germany currently on a B permit but that is not important.

Will that suffice you think?

i hope so, since i have a c permit i'm kind of less informed than some years ago. but there is always a workaround if the regulations are against you.

I think I remember reading somewhere that you at least need one swiss partner to set up your business. Basically, if something went wrong and everyone ran away, they(gov.) have someone to go after. Alright, I am exaggerating a bit.

Well I am using this company in Basel who is applying for all the relevant legalities for me. And he said that the rules state one of the partners has to have "full signatory rights" and must be at least 1 "Swiss domicile". Something like that. Basically he said it is fine and he will apply for my permit for me...

For a GmbH you need at least 2 people, one of whom must be resident (C permit or Swiss I think). It is possible for one partner to have power of attorney for the other, so in effect run the company alone.

If your company will sell labour (mine does) it will need a 'Bewilligung zur Personalverleih' (labour secondment permit) that will need a deposit or bank guarantee for CHF 50k (for low incomes) or CHF 100k. It is worth checking up on this.

My bookkeeper handles lots of small foreign IT contracting companies and speaks OK English. I'll put you in touch if you like.

The company I am using says I only need a B permit EU person as one of the directors. Since he is a friend of mine things should be okay and I am basically running the show. It is only for the purpose of documentation but I only need 20CHF to put in a bank account while I set up the business.

If you would like to PM me with the details of your bookkeeper so I can see what services he/she offers that would be helpful. I did 2 years of accounting and had my own business so the day-to-day issues will be handled by me.

However, I do plan on hiring employees maybe end of year one and most definetely year 2. But I guess the agent who will make our application will sort that out.

Hi there.... I must say you will be a suberb business woman if your able to set up a successful business for 20k in Switzerland. For accountants, dont go for the big companies with the flash website and multi million franc tv ad.. Id go for a local one as they are cheaper, easy to be in contact with (for any questions etc) They also tend to be in it to help you rather than fantasising about what restaurant they're going to tonight

Well Cookie Monster...I feel special knowing what a feat I have to accomplish. I have every faith that 20,000chf is all I need to set things up (save the initial professional fees of about 8000chf + 8000chf for my residence permit application).

Maybe we should have a SUCCESS STORY section for new threads. You know- like on those online dating sites...but without the whole feeling cheesy reading about them:-)
