Why don't you Google the perfume outlets here in Switzerland? I can think of any of the department stores plus the chain called Douglas for a start and I'm not even into perfume.

Re: Perfume oh Perfume!

There is a wonderful parfumerie in Zurich called Osswald's - it's on Bahnhofstrasse. http://www.osswald.ch/

And there are a number of Swiss perfume-makers. Andy Tauer and Vero Kern are both based in Zuri and their creations are getting a lot of good press in the perfume fora and blogs. Andy might be able to help you; his website is http://www.tauerperfumes.com

I think I heard a buzz about a place in Basel called Emeraude? But I don't know the address. Maybe if you looked in the yellow pages for the independent perfumeries in your area?

Farra, you have the slight problem that this country is home to the first and second biggest fragrance manufacturers in the world, respectively Givaudan and Firmenich, based within snarling distance of each other in Geneva. They are the ones who create most of the fine fragrances sold in shops (the name perfume providers merely put them in fancy bottles and enormously raise the price). This is not to say that a unique fragrance can't do well (for example, the world's most popular fragrance, Chanel No.5, is Chanel's very own, derived from a pre-WW1 Russian fragrance), but you'll be confronting well-entrenched competition and it won't be easy.

That's very convenient and cheap, no international phone calls to pay for in order to keep the cartel running smoothly !
