contracting _ Professional liability insurance

Any freelance IT contractor have experience of being asked to provide evidence of a professional liability insurance for a contract in Switzerland?
Any details, information, shared experiences would be welcome.

Thanks

Marton

Suggest you incorporate a LLC and work through it.

Re: contracting _ Professional liability insurance

I have contracted in Switzerland, and I was never asked.

Are you sure you need it?

LLC=Limited Liability Company. In German it is a GmbH.

Bacho has no particular reputation at present
Re: contracting _ Professional liability insurance

I was asked for professional liability on a project that involved IT and a bit of hardware. Out of curiosity, I checked with a Swiss insurance company, but they were not interested in quoting because of the labor of calculating risk for a 1-off policy. If your job can be lumped into a known risk category, that may not apply.

I think the request was somewhat politically motivated (it was a very complex arrangement). In the end, they accepted my US-based professional liability coverage, which was valid worldwide, plus a personal liability policy (which probably wouldn't have covered any work related incident).

Do not see that it helps me. It limits my liability which is good but it does nothing for the customer who is asking & & they want to see the policy......

I believe in this case it is also politically motivated
