Ski School in Switzerland, Swiss or UK company?

I've trawled through the forum & haven't found the answer, so here I go!

I am a ski teacher currently working in Switzerland & am interested in starting my own ski school in the Jungfrau region, with my brother who is also a ski teacher.
We are looking into the option of a UK registered company operating in Switzerland to begin with if this is possible.
Is anyone here doing this, or know if it is possible.
We already have possible bookings for the rest of the season, so all of our sales would be in the uk.
If you are a UK company, how does this work & how easy is it to set up?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide,

Tom

Being a qualified ski instructor too, I've only come across British-run companies in Italy. Most European countries tend to be funny about foreign ski schools, especially the French, but I'm not sure what the Swiss policy is. I think it's a very good idea though, as I know many British people have concerns about language barriers when learning. They want more instruction than just "bend zee knees" all the time!

Good luck with your venture!

Canīt offer any info specifically about a UK registered ski company operating in Switzerland but here are some links to important info you should be aware of concerning the activity of ski instructor and requirements/legislation in Switzerland:
In Vaud, you could contact the Police Cantonale du Commerce to get info.

Good luck!

Indeed. Operating Uk/Switzerland is not such an issue. From a tax perspective though, you should carefully consider where you create the company, depending on where you are domiciled (notably taxation of salary and dividends) and you will probably end up with having the company incorporated in a country and a branch or representative office in the other. Whether you want to optimize this in a tax way or not, is a question of budget...

But from a legal perspective, to operate as a ski school, there are surely some requirements, so watch carefully for this! Maybe it is easier if you offer a partnership to an existing ski school in exchange of shares/compensation....

It sounds a bit like wanting to become a sausage maker in Frankfurt, eminently possible, but very hard work to make it succeed.

Re: Ski School in Switzerland, Swiss or UK company?

I kinda looked into this a while back and found that the Swiss Ski and Snowsports School ( http://www.snowsports.ch/ ) have a kind of Mafia mentality about the whole thing.
What I also discovered was that to operate a school in Switzerland have have to be SSS qualified + a stupid number of years experience in switzerland collected working with SSS schools.
If this has all changed since I looked (few years back now) then go for it, as its a good idea.
