Logistics & transport across Europe

Basically, I'm having sort of potential projects across Europe that would require shipment & handling of specific equipment (Fragile & expensive) to other destinations then back to Switzerland.

My questions are:

- Does anyone know what's the best method to transport this equipment or can suggest transport companys?

- How this should be dealt with in terms of customs & border authorities?

Re: Logistics & transport across Europe

Depends very much on the merchandise.

Are the goods especially heavy or voluminous? Any dangerous goods in there?
Usually within Europe you have the choice between Truck and Airfreight, in random cases even by Rail. Transport companies in Switzerland are a plenty...

What are the conditions and the value? If you have to get the goods to different countries for repairs, improvements or simply for exhibitions, one would usually issue a CARNET ATA, for temporary import in the different countries.

Suggest you contact your in-house or usual forwarder and discuss - they will come up with solutions and ideas. It's their job after all...

Contact Alfred Burri (speaks perfect English, albeit with a Lancastrian accent) for advice at

TRANS SPED AG
Postfach
CH-8423 Embrach-Embraport
Tel.: ++41-44 866 28 29
Fax: ++41-44 866 28 30
Email: burri@transsped.ch
Internet: www.transsped.ch

They are import/export agents but work with lots of transport companies. I have used him once or twice for non-chilled stuff and he is very efficient and knowledgeable.

Tell him Mike the cheese man sent you.
