Re: US shipping service address companies to Switzerland

I am a MyUS member. The service works well, but the shipping from their warehouse to Switz is very expensive. It's about USD 80 for about 5lbs of stuff, PLUS the obligatory customs processing fees on this end. For precise numbers, look on their website - they have a shipping calculator.

Re: US shipping service address companies to Switzerland

I use www.aramex.com and so far so good. The HQ is at Geneva Airport, and they have offices in ZRH. Orders coming from the US are received at their NY offices and go via Dubai( this takes a few days, longer during weekends). If you order from the UK, goes via Brussels. I am happy with their services so far.

Buying from the USA

I came across this website which looks good if you want to buy and import goods from the USA.

Prices in the US are sometimes so low compared to here in Switzerland it makes it worth while at times.

http://bongous.com/

Not used the company but will do as quite often sellers in the US refuse to sell/ship outside the US.

I like the fact it also has a landed cost calculator as well.

Re: US shipping service address companies to Switzerland

I have also used shipito (http://www.shipito.com/) numerous times and their service is always very prompt and their postage costs seem to be comparatively good value.

Sometimes I even send my package to shipito and then get it sent on to me in CH, even if the website delivers to CH! This is because some US sites charge obscene amounts for international postage and shipito is far cheaper.

I've used a couple of different US mail forwarding companies over the years and so far, found shipito to be the cheapest.

What's the name of that "ship.to" USA services?

I remember there was some kind of US based service to circumvent the usual problem of goods that sellers do not wish to ship outside of ConUS (or whatever excuse they come up with nowadays).

can anybody point me in the right direction?

Thx

Paul

Re: US shipping service address companies to Switzerland

I used Shipito the last couple of weeks.

They can redirect stuff to you for $8.50

or

Pay $10 for 1 month to qualify for a consolidation service (I think $2 for each parcel you consolidate into a bigger one), another $2 for them to take photos of your goods to ensure that you got what you ordered.

I did this and took huge advantage of the sales in the past few weeks in the US, and have just picked up all my stuff from post office a couple of days ago. Great service.

Re: US shipping service address companies to Switzerland

Useful posts as never realised there were companies out there that did that. I like to get my supplements from the USA and have great difficulty. If I use one of the companies mentioned do the goods still get stuck in customs in Switzerland?

Thanks

Anything that is imported into CH must, as a rule of thumb, be imported. From what I've seen on shipito it's up to you to prepare your customs declaration before the goods can be shipped out of USA.

Ciao

Re: US shipping service address companies to Switzerland

I used Shipito before (as per my post above) and just had a look at the Bongous website.

Seems that they offer the same services in terms of consolidating packages, taking pictures, etc. Bongous tend to have an all-in price but Shipito charge you $8.50 every shipment and for the services you actually use.

Looking at the delivery charges, Shipito seems to be cheaper because they use a variety of couriers and also the US postal service which is cheap for sending lighter packages (like clothes). Bongo uses proper courier, more expensive but also safer. I guess it depends on what you are actually buying.

Bongo's website does look more professional, whereas shipito gives the impression of a family-run company and the website is not so user friendly.

I think I still prefer Shipito because of the possibility to ship clothes cheaply via US post, and USD10 per month with no minimum period vs. Bongo USD15 x 3 months.

Re: US shipping service address companies to Switzerland

Many companies seem to be shipping directly now, including Pottery Barn and Gymboree. Is anyone aware of others? Might be easier and faster to get the goods straight from the seller.
