Does anyone find Stephen K Amos funny?

Does anyone else find that getting this level of comedian (to every single individuals taste or not) to actually come to a place like Switzerland is as funny as I do?

Just discussing Guy. I'm definitely not having a go at you, and SKA is a big name.

I just don't understand why he is so popular when there are people out there with a lot more talent (in my opinion). People that I'd never heard of, that you've brought to Switzerland.

He may just be one of those people who don't come across well on TV. I'd be interested to hear from anyone that has seen him live to know if there's a difference (even if it's "He's exactly the same, he's always brilliant.")

The thing with comedy is that it is so difficult to know what makes someone funny and what doesn't. It's obviously a personal thing, but whatever it is about SKA's act, it doesn't make me laugh.

Furry muff! I didn't think you were having a go at me directly and thanks for the compliment! For the last 5 years it's become the norm to be able to come to this type of show here - probably because it's been happening for so long - when in reality, it's STILL a massive struggle. Believe me when I tell you that even getting Stephen for this show hasn't been easy! The market for international stand up comedy is brand new and (ahem!) I'm one of the few people in the world (if not the only person) making it happen at this level.

Fact: Switzerland is the only non-native english speaking country in the world to have a regular working english language comedy circuit in it's main city conurbations. This is recognised by the UK and USA comedy industries.

To answer your original question: his TV series didn't work for him or most people that saw it. The Beeb are back to the drawing board on that one and the next TV he does will certainly be different from the hit and miss affair that was his last series.

Live, Stephen is FABULOUS! Guaranteed to get an audience going! What more can I say!

If it reflects some truth or other about some aspect of the human condition inside the person listening/watching then generally it'll be funny for that person. If it doesn't, it won't! The best comedians can tap into that across the board. IMO, comedy is the sword upon which reason lives or dies, or as Groucho Marx put it "Humour is reason gone mad".

Which you really should change to a "yes" seeing as FL is one of your favourite nights out.

Yeah, but then you have to throw in charisma, likeability, believability, the ability to tell a story, perfect timing, the ability to say something for the 600th time and make it sound like it just popped into your head and just sheer presence.

Great material is nothing without delivery. And great comedians can deliver average material and make it shine. They don't bottle that stuff.

Yes! Very funny. His live show is very good, and that's where stand up is at its best. The Kuppel is one of the cosiest venues in Switzerland and to have such a name - on a Friday night woo hoo! - at such a reasonable price isn't to be missed. But you know that already

I can only say this; I've seen quite few hilarious acts at the Funny Laundry, but this was the first time I literally cried out of laughter! And my make-up is all messed up now!!!

Great-great-GREAT show!! Both acts were 1st class! Perfect ending of this session, can't wait for the next one to start!
