I've missed these, so I'm gutted to be missing the start of fall season tomorrow

Saw the Basel show tonight, very funny acts, well worth the effort.

Comedians are from the London comedy circuit (so I guess the best pool in the world) so it's the Autumn/Winter/Spring season not 'fall'
See y'all tomorrow. Hope the ban on ordering drinks during the acts' performances eliminates the occassional drunken heckling. Get your drinks in well before showtime.

No that was very funny. Don't try to outsmart the man on stage, especially if you are me!

Particularly at the Mascotte, the 'ban' is because the bar runs the length of the room and can get rather noisy, especially when someone orders a Frappicino / wants a cocktail necessitating using a blender etc.

I quite like a good heckler and appreciate a swift and cutting response. Drunk bores who fail the courage of their convictions but won't shut up are thankfully rare in Zurich.

Tonight's show, it oughta be mentioned, is not at Mascotte but the Alte Börse near Paradeplatz. If you've not been before, there's a small passageway / arcade running in off the street, where you'll find the entrance and the elevator upstairs to the old stock exchange trading floor. It's a cool venue!

@surfsup: people just stagger in and mingle. A nice feature of comedy shows is the warmth and friendliness of the audience; it's not like a bar where you find nobody talks to you.

I find approaching a desireable sort and introducing myself is enough to start a conversation. People keep their guard down and are usually very open. Just say at the entrance if you're on your own and you'll be introduced to someone and will be chatting to native Zürchers and expats alike in no time.

The Po faced will be ligging at the film festival; the friendly folk will be laughing out loud at the comedy. Easy choice for my gang...

OK, cheers..Guess I'd be Po-faced too if I had to hang around with Roman Polanski!

Gently recovering from a great night out. The acts were good fun as were the organisers. I expect those Russians went on to the Film Festival

Yeah and fair play to the Florida guy for getting up on stage. He didn't tell any jokes per se just observations. But when he talked about the 'beings' hanging around Stauffacher tram stops, I could rally relate to that. If he could've spun that into a joke it'd have been comedy gold. And Bob Miils was dynamite. He did what no other comedian has done. He took a reality check. He questioned if non Brits in the audience knew British chocolate bars and realised that not everyone knew what he was referring to. Top drawer. But he said, now you can't make jokes about stereotypes, and then made fun of people from Newcastlet. From watching British comedy on TV it seems people from Norfolk are the only group of people you can aim at now.
I felt sorry for the first Canadian guy Wade, his material was good but the crowd wasn't hyped enough to get into the groove so it was either a UBS night out or Guy hadn't motivated us enough. The response to Guy's opening was quite subdued so t seemed that after a while he dropped his cleverer material for sure fire sex jokes which seemed to go down well ...... apart from the couple who walked out.
Felt sorry for the single guy at the front who was in between two couples, I hope he took advantage of the opportunity of the single girl who said she'd give him a shag. :-)
