Greifenseelauf, Uster - Saturday 16th September 2006

Are any fellow forumers planning to run the Greifenseelauf on Saturday 16th September?

http://www.greifenseelauf.ch/

(registration currently still open at time of writing - 10km and 1/2 marathon distances).

If so, i suggest meeting up for a pre-race isostar / post-race beer / general sharing of support and encouragement.

This will be my first time, but I've heard it's a nice route!

I would, but I have a nasty case of MTSS right now after pushing an 11km run yesterday.

I would also, but i'm away that weekend. I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself for running from Selnau to the peak of Uetliberg and back at lunchtime today

I forgot you're in Oerlikon too. We should go for a run from Oerlikon sometime. I only recently started running in my own free time. Here are the two general routes from Oerlikon i've tried so far:

1. Head down to Bucheggplatz, turn right and along the side of that mountain (not sure of the name, maybe Hongg). Turn right into ETH, then you can basically get home via some fields and Seebach. One time i pushed on to Katzensee, but my sunday roast nearly burned!

2. In the other direction run along towards the Uni, then work your way left towards the Zoo. Come over the other side of that hill, down into Schwamendingen, and then a straight run back to Oerlikon.

I know this one, there's also the vita par course on the Schwamendingen side of Züriberg for shorter laps.

3. Past the Hallenstadion, join the Glatt (river) and along it towards the airport. I like this 'cause it doesn't involve too much asphalt and also has frequent bridges to turn around, so you can go as near or as far as your legs feel like taking you . (If you're not careful the path will take you all the way to Baden, just a hop of 27km further (so a sign tells me)).

Ditto, I'm taking the sign's word for it

Would definitely be up for an Oerlikon running companion though (and varied routes).. always beats going it alone.
