City/Town: Morges
Event Type: Family
Location: British Classic Car Show, 1110 Morges
Price: Free entry

The British Classic Car show is back at Morges on Saturday October 6th and I'll be there again with my British cheese stall and some extras for this year including:

Mini Ploughmans Lunch - cheese, simple salad, pickled onions, chutney and bread.

Pimm's... the best in Switzerland! (IMO of course)

British Ale (and hopefully cider) as well as proper Ginger Beer.

Scones and Clotted Cream - to eat there and take home

as well as a small selection of my best selling cheeses, crackers, chutneys and fudge. If there is enough demand (let me know here) I'll bring some bagels too but I won't be able to serve them toasted with cheese this year.

There is usually about 1500 cars turn up from all over Europe but the day really is very family friendly, hopefully I will get the same spot as last year right next to the lawn by the lake (it's a really beautiful location) so bring some picnic blankets and chairs and we'll show the locals how to really enjoy an English picnic.

Thanks already to Sky for emailing the Morges police for me in the local lingo to sort out the temporary alcohol license but if anyone else would like to earn a lunch and some drinks, I could do with a few volunteers for an hour or so to help serve drinks and fetch more ice from the local petrol station.

Looking forward to seeing you all down there again!

(and if you can't make this one I will be back in Geneva the following Saturday 13th at the Moevenpick wine shop and on the Sunday 14th at the Expat Expo in central Geneva)

For those of us who have never been to Morges, is the actual place straight forward to find? Will be travelling from Geneva. Thanks.

It's dead easy to find. We went on the train last year and when you come out of the station you just walk straight ahead towards the lake.

Yes, and same if coming by car. It's usually signposted from the motorway exit (Morges West), but just head for the town centre if you miss a sign. Parking is already getting pretty full by 9-9.30 am so don't leave it too late to arrive. Although official start time is 10am, most cars are already in place well before that so you won't have to hang around if you get there earlier.

Re: Pimm's and Ploughmans by the lake. (Morges)

And further to the last 2 replies, the car meet is all along the lake shore but with the main displays around the castle. I don't know exactly where I will be this year but ask any of the officials or the Police, they all know me and will know where I am or just wander around until your hear the party .

I'm working on the Ploughmans lunch menu now and it will consist of 3 lumps of cheese (your choice of probably..... Godminster and Westcombe PDO Cheddar, Cropwell Bishop Stilton, Gorwydd Caerphilly, Oxford Blue, College White and maybe one more...... with tomato salad and coleslaw, chutney, bread and butter. Scones will also be served warm (ish) with Clotted Cream and jam and I'll have about 4 ales and one cider if you really don't like Pimm's

Don't forget to bring some picnic chairs or blankets!

Can anyone book the Ploughman's Lunch, or is it only open to EF members? My OH has mentioned the show to some of his work colleagues and they are interested in coming to the show so might want to partake of the lunch too. Don't want to pass on details if invites are limited to EF members only.

I can't make it as I need to be in Basel to collect my daughter from her father but I know mirfield really wanted to come along.

GG, you need to convince him to come as he won't let me persuade him

Just turn up, it's open to the public so we've no idea how many will eat at our stand, but we will be prepared!

Sadly I can't come. I have a friend visiting and we're going to Gruyères. Funny, I was in the Viadukt market yesterday and saw Grumpy from the other end of the hall and he had mysteriously disappeared when I got to the cheese stand...

Sorry I let you down, I had to help my son move out. If I hadn't helped, he would still be here annoying me even longer!

Next time I will have no excuse!
