Züri Metzgete 2006

Just getting in a little early here....

My company sponsors the Zuri Metzgete cyling race, normally held in Zürich in late Sept, or first week of October. There are two components, the Pro-Tour (paid professionals only) starting around midday, or the amateur race starting around 9am.

I did the 2005 race and it was an experience. 7 degrees, pouring rain....loved every minute .

For any of you out their who ride a racing bike, I highly recommend it. It is a very professionally run race with closed off streets and transponder timing for both races. The course is good and quite challenging, I think normally around 71km.

If anyone is interested in setting up a team entry, post here. I will also post here when the website is updated for the 2006 race/entries.

Re: Züri Metzgete 2006

Do you have any suggestions for spectators?

I will be vacationing in Interlaken, and thought I might make the trip to Zurich to watch the race.

Zueri-Metzgete

Saw an old post from a few riders who were hoping to get a team for the Zueri-Metzgete and was wondering if you were able to enter. If so, how did you do?
Are there similar events during cycling season?

Re: Züri Metzgete 2006

I just heard that the Züri Metzgete has been called off for this year (2007) due to lack of a sponsor, see their website here. It sounds like this applies to both events - the pro race and the amateur ride. Does anyone know any more details?

Re: Züri Metzgete 2006

Chris, I can tell you this much:

The owner of one of the race main sponsors, Swiss Casinos, is the brother of the owner of Phonak. Since Phonak team no longer exists, I would say Swiss Casinos, and other sponsors, are distancing themselves from the Pro Tour.

Its not the only race/team to be affected by the doping fallout of last year. The TdS has suffered, as will no doubt the TdF.
