Geneva International Motor Show (autosalon)

The Geneva International Motor Show (autosalon) is coming up soon. This year it runs from 3 March to 13 March. Last year there were some good tips on this forum on how to get free tickets. Does anyone have any such tips for this years show?

Re: Geneva International Motor Show (autosalon)

You can do contest at Motor show website.

By the way, how long would you spend at the Motor show? all day or a few hours enough (I understand it gets crowded on the weekend)? I am considering to go there on friday night to spend all day on Sat.. but other option is to go there around noon and spend half a day and return home (zurich) instead of staying overnight.

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Last year a car company (cant remember which), had a webpage that you entered your emaiil and they sent you a link to a free ticket. Is there something similar this year?

The show opens at 10 am so you can probably get there close to that time from either Zurich or Basel. I don't think that staying overnight is justified. Closing time is 8 pm which also allows you to get back home. Anway, I have been a few times and find that 6 hours is well enough to see everything.

Re: Geneva International Motor Show (autosalon)

At the the weekend the venue will open from 09 am to 7pm, mon -friday from 10 am to 8pm

From 4pm until closing the ticket will cost 50 % less then the regular price(adults 16 sfr, pensioners, kids up to 16 years 9 sfr)

There is an offer from the sbb to purchase the railticket+entry (if you don't use the gemeinde tageskarte or other offers).
You will get 10 % discount on the railticket and 30 % on the admission.

Last year was Cadillac Europe.

This year, I received a Linkedin invite for two free tickets from Infiniti, but didn't get off my fat ass in time request them..

Think I will be heading there early this Saturday. Depending on how much I see, might head back the following weekend as well!

Re: Geneva International Motor Show (autosalon)

Can't recommend the saturday(or weekend),the stands where the most expensive cars will be(like lamborghini, Bugatti, etc.) so packed, it will take around 45 min to get to the front to make a good photo.
Mostly with people from France and Italy, so have your ellbows ready, if you have to go.
A few years ago(like 5-10 years) the salon was much better, the direct connection to the gare SBB wasn't a good idea in terms of rushing the queue
from the station to the fair, now everybody is inside the venue 20 min after
arriving at the station. And the trains keep coming(as well the cars to the garage).

Re: Geneva International Motor Show (autosalon)

Stupid question but:

We can buy tickets directly at the show? Don't have a printer at home unforunately..

And the site itself is beside the Geneva Airport station?

Yes it's right next to the airport station.
You can but your ticket there or if you're travelling by train you can get a combi rail/salon ticket at the station which costs a bit less.

Our son went yesterday and said it was much better than last year.

Re: Geneva International Motor Show (autosalon)

Went this afternoon/evening with a SBB rail offer ticket - probably the easiest to shave off some of the cost for most people. In any case 15chf the entry I must say it's not amongst the most expensive things around. We spent 15 chuffs inside for a sandwich, crossant and a coke, to put things in perspective.

Friday afternoon it was already quite busy, but there was no queuing at the entry and you could easily get in most of the cars with a bit of patience. Took us about 3 hs to pass all stands and see most of the interesting cars. There are a lot of everyday models not that different from your typical showroom, unless you are interested into the last facelift Twingo or Civic you can skip a lot of stuff and focus on the exotics...

Re: Geneva International Motor Show (autosalon)

Most tickets will be purchased online these days, so there will be no queue.
The best deal will be the ticket from 4 pm(till 8pm on weekdays), so you will
pay only 8 sfr entry for an adult.
Avoid purchase food&beverage at the fair, at the station there is a migros and a manor.
Most people don't care about the everyday cars, there will be no queue at all.
At the exotic cars, well thats another story..........
I don't like , that humans are a part of the show (fidget crap at cars nobody is really interested in) and
women(in nice dresses) to pose at expensive cars.
When you got an expensive car like a lamborghini or bugatti, you don't need a women beside or in/onto it.
