City/Town: Rapperswil
Event Type: Special Promotion
Location: Rappi Bier Factory, Schönbodenstrasse 3
Price: Free entry

Due to popular demand we will be back at the Rappi Bier Factory on August 9th serving a mouth watering selection of hard to find Swiss BIO cheeses as well as some unusual British regional cheeses including Stinking Bishop, Blacksticks Blue, Rachel Goat and Duddleswell Sheep.

Our ever popular Sparkenhoe Red Leicester, Hawes Wensleydale, Montgomery's and Godminster Cheddars , Colston Basset Stilton and Shropshire Blue will be the choices for the Ploughmans Lunch plates which will of course be served with strong pickled onions and Branston Pickle.

The cheeses will be served from 1 pm to 9pm but the bar will remain open to 11pm. Please PM me if you would like to reserve a Ploughmans for later in the day.

The Rappi Bier factory brews 3 great British style beers and is located just behind the newly opened Kunsthaus and is a short walk from the SBB station.

RSVP's are now closed but anyone is still welcome to come. If you are coming later in the day and want to reserve a PML please send me a PM by tonight with your numbers and expected time

Bummer, I'll be in London that weekend and will miss the lunch. Any recommendations for pubs with good Ploughman's Lunches in London?

swissbob + 5 guests - Ploughmans all round please - about 6pm-ish and keep that smelly Bishop away from me - it's one of the few cheeses that actually hurts
It's certainly not for the faint hearted. I only have one 1.5 kilo cheese and it is so ripe it lives in a fridge on it's own. It will be released at the Highland Games next weekend, surely the kilt wearers will be brave enough?

Re: The 2nd Rapperswil Cheese Festival & Ploughmans Lunch

I'm planning to come up by train from Ticino, be there early - i.e. loooooong lunch - and thereafter amble back to SBB and sleep all the way back to Mendisio

Question: is *anyone* going to be around at 1 pm at all? Despite my interest in suds & curds I'd also love to meet some other forumites....

Paul

Well, I thought I'd see some friendly faces I know. Looking forward to it I was. Now I see that MathNut will be in USA, Bartholemew in Brussels, Oldhand in England and Lob doesn't want to sit beside me either.
With friends like these, who needs enemies?

there is a potential that my out-laws might be venturing up from sunny climes to dirty Svizzera Tedesca for a few scoops and sock-smelling fromages.....

And I'll let you sit next to me again, Longbyt
