Hi all Just reminding you all of next year’s ANZAC DAY 2010 trip (April 22-26 2010).

Experience ANZAC Day 2010, the 95th Anniversary at Gallipoli with Babel Travel. Reflect on those that were lost at the Dawn Service, pay your respects at the numerous memorials and explore the fantastic city of Istanbul.

 The program is as follows;

Day 1: Thursday 22nd April Flight from Zurich to Istanbul

 Flight from Zurich leaves at 1.40pm and arrives in Istanbul at 5.25pm. Organize your visa on arrival and meet your transfer officer. Your airport transfer is included in the price of the trip, however your visa cost is not. Visa’s are free for Kiwi passport holders, but Aussie passport holders pay 20 USD. It’s 50 USD for UK passport holders. Check into your hotel and explore Istanbul’s nightlife! A visit to the Aussie/Kiwi friendly Orient Youth Hostel bar is a must. Belly dancing/a taste of the Orient awaits!

Day 2: Friday 23rd April Explore Istanbul

 After breakfast meet your local guide and explore Istanbul. This 4 hour tour takes in Aya Sofya, The Blue Mosque, Hippodrome and the Golden Horn. The rest of the day is free for to explore the city. A visit to the Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace or a dip in one of Istanbul’s Turkish baths are highly recommended!

Day 3: Saturday 24th April Istanbul to Gallipoli

 The morning is free before departing for Gallipoli at 12pm. On the way your guide will give you some information about the Gallipoli region and the battles that took place. You will also have chance to watch a documentary or movie about the Gallipoli campaign. Upon arriving, near Gallipoli there will be time for a dinner break (optional cost) before we make our way to Anzac Cove for the overnight stay at the cove. Please note: Please bring a day pack with you for the overnight stay at Anzac Cove/the next day in Gallipoli. Once you put your main luggage on the coach, on the morning of the 24th in Istanbul you will not have chance to access it again until you arrive back in Istanbul on the night of the 25th. Your main luggage will be securely locked away in the coach overnight. Please also note that the weather in Anzac Cove overnight can get very cold so we suggest you bring sleeping bags, blankets and warm clothing for this stay and even a wet weather jacket in the event that it rains.

Day 3: Sunday 25th April ANZAC Day & Gallipoli to Istanbul

 At first light you will experience the Dawn Service, a truly moving experience for everyone. You will hear tributes and tales of your fellow countrymen and join the many thousands who make the pilgrimage to Gallipoli to remember the fallen. After the Dawn Service, you will make your way to the various sites for the different commemorations. First is the Australian Service at Lone Pine and then the New Zealand service at Chunuk Bair. After the New Zealand service we will board the bus (either at Lone Pine or Chunuk Bair) and head to Eceabat where we will have a short break for something to eat and refreshments (optional cost). After this short break we will continue to Istanbul arriving in the late evening (at around 11pm).

Day 4: Monday 26th April Flight from Istanbul back to Zurich

 After breakfast the tour finishes. Your airport transfer officer will meet you at your hotel at 8am to transfer you to the Istanbul airport. Your flight is at 11am and arrives at Zurich at 1pm. The person price is 640 CHF and covers a return flight from Zurich, 3 night’s accommodation in Istanbul (twin rooms at a 3 star hotel), 1 night at Anzac Cove, return airport transfers in Istanbul, guide tour of Istanbul, return transport (Istanbul-Gallipoli), guided tour of Anzac Cove/Lone Pine, Anzac day memorial services and 2 breakfasts. The tour price doesn’t include any airport/train transfers in Zurich, entrance into Aya Sofya, dinners or any tips for the guides and drivers. Please remember that you’ll need to book and pay, no later than Wednesday, September 23rd in order to receive this price. The price of the trip will increase after this date. Are you allowed to sleep at Anzac cove? I understand that as it's a natural park camping is forbidden. It a very small place.
