Summer seems to have arrived and this is great news for the various night markets which occur in Zurich.

The first of the season is this Saturday, from 19.00, at the Maag Areal, Hall L (Hardstrasse, next to Hardbrücke station).

These markets are pretty laid back affairs, and good for unusual, mainly second-hand stuff such as lamps, clothes, furniture etc. There's inevitably cool new stuff alongside the retro.

There're always food stalls as well. These are nice occasions to hang out with the crowd, have some drinks and a curry and buy those Elton John shades.

There's often a jumble-sale-cum-disco atmosphere, which I find amusing: imagine in the UK having crowds drinking, partying and NOT nicking stuff from the stalls...

There's still the chance to reserve a stall at the market, but be quick as registration is open until this evening (Wednesday).

Details in the attachment below. Afterwards, there's an 'indie' party at the Big Ben pub across the road. I believe a fellow-forum member may have a hand in that...

Thanks for that. Do you know when the Saturday flea market in Burkliplatz starts up again? That's always a surreal place to visit... gramophones, kitsch, tiger skins, ....

... and bizarrely a guy selling Union Jacks.

There was also a guy there selling air hostess trolley from the demise of swissair. Stupidly expensive though and not in good condition.

Helvetiaplatz has it's Saturday morning flea market in operation again: good to go at the beginning of the season when all those eager-beavers have cleared out their parents attics. Plenty of gems amongst the tat. Also a good place for an openair haircut, mirror propped against a tree, people milling around you drinking rosé: cool

Apparently you need a flyer to get in though - so presumably we can't get in with a printout. Seems a bit pointless to post this here if so!

I guess this is obsolete now, but anyone can stroll in. They're just tryin' to be exclusive cool.
