Thanks for your kind comments.

If you need any help arranging that convertible for June just drop me a line, my e-mail is gary.coughlan@sixt.com Either way let me have the reservation number and I'll make sure you are looked after.

Thanks again
Used you guys from Bristol (van hire) to move my stuff to Zug, Switzerland again flawless service no issues.

It's a real problem being able to hire vans to take outside of the UK and as one of x2 that I know offering this service I would recommend you every time.

Big pat on the back for the Bristol South team...

Re: Car hire / Sixt - Any Questions

Gary, is it possible to hire vans from sixt one way internationally, or even return ? For example, can I hire a sixt van in Switzerland, drive it to England, and back again ? Or (far more unlikely) fly to england and hire the van for a one way trip back ? I realise the latter is almost certainly impossible but its worth asking.

Nice to see proactive customer service! I am currently looking for car hire for our holiday in France in June and this thread plus the positive comments about the child car seats means I will be using Sixt

Re: Car hire / Sixt - Any Questions

Wow! Now thats what I call service!

Short Question I am looking for car hire 11 days! in Basque Region for August. The closest rental locations for Sixt are Biarritz (1 hour from me) Or Bilbao in spain (2 hours) away from me.

If you rent a bmw series 1 or audi a3 in France your price immediatly goes up by 150 Euro, and I believe in spain its 150 euro cheaper and in spain you get unlimted milage!!!

Such close proximity of locations and why such price difference and service?

Local market conditions? Perhaps they are trying to build up business in Spain?

You are right about local markets and sales initiatives, this all influences the available price. The vehicle groups and product are also structured differently to suit the local market.

Re: Car hire / Sixt - Any Questions

Hi Gary,
I have made the booking, but I just wanted to check, on the confirmation, it stated that the car seat was subject to availability. Is is likely to not be available? Obviously this is a non-optional extra for me. Is there any way I can confirm that the car seat is reserved?

thanks in advance

Can you send the details to gary.coughlan@sixt.com I'll take a look and see what I can do to help.

Re: Car hire / Sixt - Any Questions

Gary,

This is not a question re. Sixt but lets call it a theoretical question..

Lets say a friend of mine had rented a car from a theoretical car hire company that for argument sake we'll call "Thrifty" ... and this friend would up with a crack in the windscreen from a rock kicked up from the roadway.... any idea what his liability would be?

I've started a few stories myself with "I have a friend who" none of which I can repeat here.

In most cases unless glass and tyre is available as an extra the driver will be liable for the cost. Technically it's known as bad luck.

As much as you are not at fault, it's fair to say that the car rental company isn't either and after all "your friend" was driving. I guess if you were driving your own vehicle and you got a chip you would simply accept your own bad luck or at least your friend would.

I can only suggest that your friend writes to the vehicle provider if he/she is charged to request some good will gesture on account of all the hires he or she is having. It doesn't hurt to try.

I contacted the Branch, you will receive the seat as requested on your reservation. You have my assurance and a guarantee from the branch.

I hope the information below is useful. There is no extra cost, you may need to check if there is kilometer limitation.
Cross Border Rentals & Territorial Restrictions

Cross Border Rentals are allowed to the following countries:
Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
Cross boarder rentals with Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and VW cars as well as with Jeeps/Offroader are not allowed to the following countries: Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithunia, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
It is allowed to enter these countries with all vehicles of car groups IVMR, SVMR and FVMR (including all Mercedes-Benz) and vans.
In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all insurances lose their validity.
