Hi Gary

I am happy Sixt customer and I have already had some of your now EF popular generosity.

As I am not so greedy, I am asking for a little favor here.

I would like to rent the BMW M3 with the special summer offer in Germany. It costs 99 Euro per day for the coupe and 129 Euro for the convertible and these prices are valid at the Frankfurt a. M. Zentrum-Zeil center. So here are my questions:
1. Can I have the option of dropping the car off in Zurich?
2. If I need to pick and drop the care in Frankfurt is there any chance of getting a VAT free rate as I reside in Switzerland?

Thanks,
Kalyan
Sorry it's a taken a while to come back to you.

1. The M3 special is only available from the selected stations which are visible on the pick up / drop off drop down list. These are German locations only.

2. Answer to number 1. renders the answer to number 2. as a slightly moot point. (Thus, a moot point, however debatable, is one that has no practical value.) Dodgyken has provided the answers to both and is spot on ( proviso: as far as I am aware )

Let me know if you need anything else. Gary

Re: Car hire / Sixt - Any Questions

A quick review of Sixt..

I contacted Gary to compare a price found on the website, and his colleague answered pretty promptly. I ended up booking the car online, and picking it up from Zurich on a one-way trip to France. I had booked a station wagon (Combi) but fearing it would not be big enough, I mentioned my worry to the woman at the counter. She offered my a mini-van for the same booking price, and it worked fine. The child's seat was ready at pick up, and we were off.

The gas tank was only half-full on pick up, which was a little annoying, but other than that the trip was a success. I dropped the van off in a far-off French city without incident. If I could change one thing, it would be to pay a smaller one-way trip charge--about 2x the cost of a day rental! I understand the company has to get the car back, but it still hurts the bank balance.

Thanks.

Re: Car hire / Sixt - Any Questions

Gary @ Sixt

I've been looking for a 4 day rental for a seven seat vehicle.. Pick up and drop off in the French sector of GVA airport. 21st - 25th Nov. The best rate I get from Sixt with no added extras is £301 or 360eur

From Auto Europe i get a quote of only 202eur for same spec vehicle, dates etc etc .. (they are using Europcar)

Question 1 : Why such a big difference?
Question 2 : Why is is this 'outsourcing' even cheaper, i can't even get that price direct from Europcar
Question 3 : Should I be concerned about renting from an intermediary? Any gotchas there?

Hi John_H,

Our prices are always subject to change as a result of our fleet availability. As the prices were high for a seven seater on these dates, this would generally reflect a very low availablity of this vehicle at the location.

Hope this helps explain the difference in price.

Many thanks,

Matt

Hi Gary,

Not sure if you still check this thread...

I am planning to rent a car for 10 days during Christmas, and I would like to know if Sixt offers any discount for students? I think Europcar has some discount for EPFL students, so I wanted to know if you also offer any discount.

Thanks!

Hi Jonnahtan,

Thanks for your message.

We don't have any special offers at the moment as such, but if you'd like to contact me directly I'll see what we can do for you. Please send me the details of the reservation you require including the dates, location and vehicle and I'll be happy to look into this, in a private message might be better than posting here regarding your travel plans.

Many thanks,

Gary

Re: Car hire / Sixt - Any Questions

I used Sixt (Basel Bad. Bhf) last weekend to hire a people carrier.

They were a third of the price of Hertz (who I normally use) and the guy at the desk couldn't have been friendlier.

I'll definitely be considering them again when I need a car.

Re: Car hire / Sixt - Any Questions

We rented through Sixt over the weekend (albeit in Spain). On the website and all the documentations and receipt the description was "BMW Serie 2 Cabrio, Audi A3 Cabrio, VW Beetle Cabrio or similar, room for 1 suitcase".

I guess we received an 'or similar' which was an Opel, with the horsepower of a snail and no room for a standard suitcase in the trunk.

We also paid extra for GPS, but the onboard navi didn't even have the main highway (A7 in Spain) connecting the cities we were traveling between. It was even a new car with barely 1000 km on it.

Other than those annoyants/disappointments, the service was extremely friendly and nice.

Thanks for taking the time to connect on this forum (or meeting point of trolls :P ), and making a genuine effort on customer service.
