Looking good so far when I checked out the site and prices.

Since many people will be wondering, and you might know from experience, can you confirm Swiss import duties on books do not start until about 200 CHF worth in books, since the 2.4% VAT only has to be paid if VAT reaches 5 CHF?

In other words, can your Swiss customers order up to 200 CHF in books duty free?

According to the information given in English by the Swiss Customs Administration here :

"There is no specific allowance as for travellers, only a tax-exemption limit, whereby customs duty and VAT are not levied if they amount to CHF 5.- or less per customs declaration. "

So a parcel with books valued at Fr. 200 should NOT attract any Swiss tax. There is no import duty on books imported from Germany (where we are)

Hi Ritchi, I think this is a great offer and I also think this is a great idea to have something along the lines of an Englishforum shopping front. By that I do not mean that the Englishforum should have a section shopping as otherwise there would either need to be some form of commercial structure to contribute to the forums running which Mark has already stated he does not want. What I am referring to is perhaps a partner model where each vendor has a link on their virtual shop front to the other partners and each offers some form of incentive to Forum users. Minimal stress, no commitment and you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours as a principle.

Do you think this is an idea?

Well I am all for those EFers who have businesses forming an inofficial network for the advantage of members and ex-pats.

Would be nice if there was a place on the EF site where members could access freebies, discounts etc made available by other membres

Jokers have also really cheap very very english books and because they are in switzerland it costs hardly anything to send, i always buy my books from them and you can also get children books dirt cheap.
