I don't think I need to buy one. Please convince me that buying a coffee "to go" with a free paper cup is actually more expensive.

Are you maybe proposing that I take my cup with me and ask Starbucks to fill it up, and help save the environment?

It's increasingly common in my hometown to bring one's own cup to coffee places, though they're usually insulated plastic not porcelain. I think there's even an incentive- one gets more coffee, though I could never imagine that happening in Switzerland. But what's wrong with reducing waste wherever possible, I ask?

Well I don't know the Starbucks policy here but in the states it is common for people to bring in their own cup. AND you get a .10cent discount for BYOC.

if you bring a Starbucks cup to Starbucks in CH you get 0.80 CHF off your drink. I don't think they'll take any other reusable cups though.

Then why didn't you write that? (You always have to drag it out of them!)

By the way, have you calculated the energy costs of making the porcelain cup? And cleaning it each time?

How is this cup more Eco-friendly (God, I hate that term) than any other reusable coffee cup?

duuuude. It isn't. It's just a coffee cup with a sealed lid that's easy to take to Starbucks every morning for a fill up, thus saving thousands of paper cups. It ain't a rocket ship, just a cup marketed in a particular way. 20chf is what the Starbucks equivalent cost anyway.
