Details of the Course

- Understand the principles of child Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Use manikins to practice the skills of opening an airway, giving rescue breaths and performing chest compressions
- Learn how to help a choking child
- Learn about the top causes of unconsciousness in children and practice the safe positioning of an unconscious child
- Understand what number to call in an emergency
- Learn how to avoid and recognise dehydration and how to manage heatstroke and sunburn
- Understand the importance of head injuries and what to do
- Understanding and how to administer Epipen
- Learn how to deal with major bleeding, cuts and insect bites
- Practice how to deal with broken bones and sprains (joint dislocations will also be mentioned briefly)
- Learn how to deal with eye injuries
- Understand how to manage a child with an acute asthma attack
