Just Samosas

Hello Fellow Efers........
I would like to introduce my new venture,

www.justsamosas.com

Our speciality is simply Samosas.
We offer two types of Samosas, the traditional North Indian Samosa, made from a 2mm thick pastry and folded into a pyramid, and a variation on the traditional Samosa found in Southern Africa and Malaysia, made from a paper thin pastry, and folded into a triangle.

With a variety of fillings, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, Samosas are the perfect for hors d'oeuvres or the in-between snack. The crispy pastry, combined with a lightly spicy filling makes the Samosa a culinary delight.

Samosas can be frozen up to 6 months, once defrosted they can be fried, as well as baked in the oven.

We offer cooking courses as well!

Please have a look around, and feel free to contact me via email or a pm.

Have a nice day!

Pather

Re: Just Samosas

Ooohhh my husband is going to be in heaven! I'll place an order later today when I have a moment (gotta get the kids outside now ).

Fantastic idea Pather!

Fellow forum members, take my word for it that Pathers samosas are divine! I've had the pleasure of indulging in these delicious delights! I also took a course of Ms. Pathers to learn how to make them.. Very delicate and time consuming work indeed so it's just way easier for me to order!

Re: Just Samosas

Ok, so lovely Ms. Pather dropped my order off today. My husband managed to gobble down 12 of the mince (extra spicy as requested) beauties in one sitting. I managed to steal a bite (he's quite a greedy bugger with them) and they are absolutely scrumptious!

Re: Just Samosas

I love samosas, a little too much, especially veggie samosas with the right amount of spiciness and some tamarind sauce... or maybe a chicken and a veggie samosa together... or... oh I just got full thinking about it...

My Girl, are you gonna take the one of Pather's cooking courses?

Still remembering and drooling over the delightful and delish food you and your family shared with LiB, Island Girl, Phil_MCR and me (did I miss anyone else?) at Prof. T's Summer Fire party by the Rhein a few weeks ago...Yum!

I have done a course of hers but I'll be more than happy to do one again! (we get to take a ton of samosas home....ok, some of ours didn't really look like samosas but thank heavens Pather made the fillings for us, so at least they tasted like samosas should!

You're so sweet (big hug). I'm glad you enjoyed the food.. I think it was also the lovely company that enhanced the flavor of the food

Re: Just Samosas

Thanks Meisie, I am happy that it was everything that you expected!

You know you did keep your promise, even though you did not realise it, but after the course you said to me that if I started this business you would be my first customer, and you were!!

AND FUTURE CUSTOMERS, THERE IS A 15% DISCOUNT ON FIRST ORDERS UNTIL 1st DECEMBER!

I know they are not cheap, but they certainly do not taste cheap!!! and with the discount they become reasonable.

Regards,
Pather

Re: Just Samosas

Congratulations on your new venture Pather. As a person who was brought up on these delectable little bites of heaven, I intend to become a regular of yours!

Firstly, at chf 2.20 per meat samosa, I don't find them expensive at all! If they are well prepared, well spiced and made with love , I think they are very worth it. Migros and Coop have their versions for about the same price and they are horrible.

Samosas are also a very popular snack in East Africa, particularly Kenya (where I grew up) as there is a large Indian community there. Over the years they have been incorporated into the local cuisine and you can buy them at practically every café, kiosk or restaurant. The dough (like a spring roll wrapper) resembles that of the South African that you have mentioned. The only difference being the meat samosas are made without peas, but with mince, onions, herbs and spices.

I shall order some through your website very soon.

1 question: can I also bake the South African samosas? I do not deep fry at home.

Once again, best of luck!

Sure you can bake them. I baked mine (from frozen) at 200 degrees celcius for around 25min. Perfect!

Re: Just Samosas

AN IMPORTANT NOTICE : JUST SAMOSAS HAVE STOPPED USING CURRY LEAVES IN THE SAMOSAS. DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE LEVELS OF PESTICIDES FOUND ON THE LEAVES, TESTED BY THE BASEL KANTONSLABOR.
