Exhibition Space needed, Painter

Hi, I'm looking for exhibition space in the Zurich area to show and sell my paintings. If you can help or have any ideas on setting up as a painter in Zurich please contact me. Or check out my website at www.joannefinnegan.com. Thank you for any advice you can give me.

In some areas local restaurants agree to hang paintings, and presumably take a percentage of the sales. Have you thought about approaching restaurants about this idea?

My paintings are rather large, but yeah thank you for the idea. Don't really mind the percentage part as they are now taking over my studio space. Also want to establish myself as a painter. Thank you again for your help.

Why not take photos and advertise them on here?

I've managed to sell a couple of paints from EF in the past but it would be great to see them hanging somewhere together and for people to see them without having to feel obligated to buy them. I know I should be more of a business women. Thank you also for the advice.

Thank you Stephen, believe it or not but I terrified of heights :-) and now I'm trying to paint mountains for a living. I have found myself in some scary situations on tops of the Alps. But I can't stop painting them.

Usually I sketch, must say sat down on the top of the mountain. Then take photos and compile the painting back on earth in the studio. Usually the day after as I need a drink to get back down. :-)

Sounds like a perfect day in the mountains to me... walking, scenery, sketching and a beer on the way back down. You have found the perfect recipe.

Should be, but end up looking like Elvis, leg shaking and lip wobbling.

Re: Exhibition Space needed, Painter

A friend had an exhibition of his paintings a good few years back in a small gallery off Hottingerstrasse and Zeltweg (near Zurich, Seefeld), can't for the life of me remember the name of the place but I think there are a few small art galleries dotted around that part of town, might be worth taking a stroll round there and have a look.

There's a nice fluidity and feel to your paintings, bet they look great in the skin. Do you use acrylic or oils?

Thank you, think it's due to being scared at the shear height off the Swiss Alps love them. Acrylics, their faster to work with and love the intensity of colour. Never thought I'd become a mountain painter just can't move away from this subject at the moment. Will try and find the courage and take a walk down there, just opening the door is the hardest part.
