| | | The Cheese Club! Great British Cheese tasting Pack for Christmas!
Hi hungry EF's!
A number of you have been aware that we have been planning an on-line Cheese shop which I am proud to share with you lot first! We were planning to launch in February but thought the Christmas season would be an ideal time to offer a pre-launch Great British Christmas Cheese tasting pack - subtitled "Life Beyond Cheddar" (but don't worry we will have a wonderful mature farm made Cheddar next month).
This Christmas pack consists of four top quality British Cheeses for delivery before Christmas: Colston Bassett Blue Stilton (probably the King of British Cheese); Gubbeen, a medium soft cows cheese from County Cork, Ireland; Berkswell, a hard sheep cheese from the Midlands in England and Hawes Wensleydale from Yorkshire. The Tasting Pack will be completed with Orkney Oat Cakes and Charcoal Thins from Derbyshire, our favourite cheese crackers
See the selection here
Right now we also have some interesting cheeses from Switzerland, Italy and France.
The philosophy for the Cheese Club is to supply unusual cheeses from small family dairies, either BIO (organic), un-pasteurised or just rare individual styles. We also have (and will have more in the New Year) tasty crackers, breads and chutney's as well as cheese themed gifts and kitchen tools and books. Tasting packs planned for next year include rare cheeses from Spain as well as Goats and Blue cheese variations. We can also make up specific gift packs for your clients or friends.
Finally, let me have your honest opinions about the web site. It's the first shop I've built and I am not a computer techie. If there are any glaring glitches that are not apparent on our computers and browsers here I would be really grateful for your input! (BTW The German pages will not be on-line until after the weekend)
Happy Cheese Munching!

you need ALT values for your images, I forgot what 45% means in the product list and did not want to scroll up. ALT="description" on your image tags would tell me when I mouse-over.... | | This user would like to thank Lob for this useful post: | |

Thanks all for the positive feedback so far! And to snowflake for the links, will visit them all soon. Our Cheddar will be Montgomery's from Somerset. We are also trying to get Beenliegh Blue from Devon - this is Swiss Miss' all time favourite cheese!

Hey Grumpy,
Great site... I might just invest in the new year, when I am around long enough to tuck in.
By the way, I would be really interested in a "swiss taster pack" or an "international taster pack" too, do you have any plans for that?
Cheers,
Hugh

Hi Hugh
we will be in Madrid after Christmas choosing our Spanish taster pack, if anyone has any favourites please let me know, and we will also soon have an introduction to Swiss Cheese which should be available most the year round. International Taster Packs will be based around one style of cheese (eg goats or blue from different countries).
We are also planning tasting events for British Cheese, and possibly even attending a regular market in Zurich
I'm in the UK now building on our British range it looks like we will have about 6 kilos of Montgomery's Cheddar coming to us in a couple of weeks for shipping before Christmas. James Montgomery was awarded Champion Cheese Maker for the World (I haven't confirmed yet who awarded this to him - but his Cheddar is amazing!) I'll post details on the web site early next week.
Mike
PS, forgot to mention before that cheese can of course be collected from us here, just let us know first.

Hi Nick
We do get some of our cheese from the wholesale side of Neals Yard, I have posted on this forum a few times before that their shop in Covent garden is about the best cheese shop in the world but we are also buying direct from the dairies, Lincolnshire Poacher being one of them - it's an un-pasteurised cheddar style cheese, just nibbling some now with some Orkney Oat Cakes . Hope to have some in stock in January.

hey Mike, just wanted to congratulate you on the new venture. This is an excellent idea, and I'll most definitely be making use of it when I'm back - I love English cheese. Good luck with it!
