Just click on the link below or paste into your browser. <link removed as it's redundant - see the one above>
Subscribe at our website www.insidemagazine.ch to receive the newsletter FREE in your inbox every month. We aim to whet your appetite for Inside Switzerland Magazine (due to launch in March 2007) which will bring you 100 pages of articles about international living in Switzerland and Swiss life abroad, covering topics on cultural integration, as well as careers, design, art, culture and everyday life. Published in March, June, September and December, we look behind the cheese, chocolate and neutrality image of Switzerland - all for just CHF 35 per year. Check out our website, www.insidemagazine.ch for details of how to subscribe, and read extracts from our pilot edition.
And, most importantly, we want to hear from you. We'd appreciate any ideas, comments or feedback. Contact us via the website or by e-mailing info@insidemagazine.ch | | | | | It seems to be a sweetner for the magazine launch - a magazine featuring EF's very own [Mc]BoyD.
For what it's worth, you seem to be able to download the newsletter without submitting your personal information, if you're inclined that way.
The monthly mag, as it says above, is a very affordable 35 francs per year - or around 9 francs per issue (4 per year)
I have no association with the mag, by the way, but will probably try it when it materialises.

Reason: silly me thought it was monthly....!

The old Cream is before my time, but aren't some of the masthead names the same? I recognise some as IT pimps, er, agents...

That would be me I guess!
It's a completely different venture, ok there are some obvious similarities (english language, focus on Switzerland, etc) but trust me (what a ridiculous statement from a pimp eh?) when I say that it's a long long way away from the Cream fiasco.
PS - Your support and interest are appreciated!

Hi BoyD,
I hope you know what you're doing! I see the Insight site states things like: | Quote: | | | | lifestyle quartery/
entertaining insights/ A focus on careers and business advice in Switzerland/ Sections featuring the latest in Swiss design, culture, gastronomy, fashion, gadgets, and sport/ A rich source of news on events around the country/ Insightful travel articles from within Switzerland, around Europe, and overseas | | | | | (Hate that 'insighteful'. ) It's all a bit vague and everything for everyone. Also events and a quarterly don't usually go hand in hand. At least the name is better than Cream, which many English-speakers I know though was a porn mag. Can't understand why it wasn't called 'Creme', but then there are many things I didn't understand about it...

Give me 20mins in English and I'll be happy.

Dave - Both are free, the newsletter and 20 min I mean so why not go all out and read both?
PS - Surely the main point of discussion in here should be that (in my opinion, not expecting that to be echoed by many others) of the rather splendid Swiss army knife in the newsletter?
Reckon I'll be the one and only customer making enquiries about that?

I've just read the pdf, and I find most of the teasers interesting. I hope it doesn't become too arty-farty orhighbrow, and become a turnoff like the swiss inflight magazine : spending 6000 words reviewing the style item that is a shirt-cuff...
I await with interest to see if and how the content is affected by our views and topics of discussion here on EF. Any potential mag proprieter worth his salt would be studying our attitudes - as indeed we appear to form an influencial part of the target market.
The copy deadlines, quarterly publication and event calendar may be prove a problem but test marketing a quarterly is probably the cautious approach. The teasers did however seem to cover events in this month....
What I meant when I referred to 20min in English was that its topical, its free, prints the weather, gossip and events and uses reasonably simple German. Ideal for trivia on the train.

Dave/AbFab - Thanks for the comments, the issue of the events section needing to be more current than a quarterly magazine offers was the catalyst for the monthly newsletter idea.
As for the magazine taking into consideration the EF attitude, we'd be silly not to.... |

I just took another look to find out exactly at whom the mag is aimed. What are "International Men and Women" ?
The "mission statement" seem engaging, with the possible exception of "career advice". Its not something I'd expect or need in a glossy.
If you paying I'm sure you can find plenty of freelance writers though

Feel free to enquire!

Looks good - but Lob, this should probably go under the commercial section. It may be free, but there is still money changing hands for adverting etc. The "free stuff" part of the market place is more for giving away real stuff like - "I'm bored with my 7 series BMW, come and collect it".
BoyD - since you are getting some new exposure on here, don't forget to give us some nice coverage and promotion in your magazine once you have become rich and famous and too busy to hang out with us anymore |

I was going to move it to commercial once the mag was out - the newsletter's free.
btw you might want to talk to BoyD about hosting/CMS etc as they're looking to move their website from its present location |

Mark - Wouldn't dream of it (not hanging out here any more I mean)! In fact this forum, as mentioned to another mod earlier in the day, is THE most comprehensive guide to living here one could think of. The topics covered and detail in the posts is almost baffling. Well done and thanks for having us on here.
I guess we are somehow relieved that we ain't competing with you, perish the thought, on the contrary the two should hopefully compliment each other. I can't decide/comment on how/if we can somehow point people in each others direction but, as I mentioned earlier, we'd be mad not to listen and observe the attitudes and views on here.
Commercial vs free? It's most definitely free til launch so how about moving it once we start charging!
Lob - Shhhhhh, that's not public knowledge yet, we don't want any tantrums now do we?

Having just thumbed-through the magazine last night, I have to say initial impression is not bad.
BoyD tells me if you fly Swiss in the near future, you'll see it. And you'll see BoyD in inch-by-inch glory in the magazine!!
35 francs for 4 magazines featuring (right now) very little advertising is not bad (IMO).

I really rate it too. Got my first copy about 6 weeks ago and still waiting for my bill! Seriously though, lots of well written creative content. Hope they make a success of it.
