| | | Private Chef and Catering For Hire Hello all. I am an American Chef, currently working outside of Zurich, available for catering, wether it be corporate or event, or as a personal chef, for family or social, or for cooking for professionals in need of meals prepared for 1 to 4 persons. I also have facilities available for groups in the Wadenswill area, on Sundays. If you are visiting Switzerland, or Eastern and Southern France, and need a personal Chef or facilities for events, weddings, corporate functions, etc, I have many sites available, rustique and modern (mainly France, some in Portugal too). I am willing to travel, if notified well enough in advance. I am HAACP certified, with experience mainly in American, Mexican, French, Portugese, and fusion related experience in many others(such as Italian, Japanese, Thai, Spanish, and the like). I have both casual BBQ to Michelin Guide references, and over 14 years experience. I speak english and french and some spanish. If interested please send me a pm. If you want free advice on menu planning, food, or anything else kitchen, restaurant, food, related, feel free to ask. Also if interested, I have a Guide Michelin Pastry Chef I work with, that specializes in French and Spanish pastry and breads from Paris available with enough prior notice as well. Thank you. |

hi there! Wondering if you would organize cooking courses in Spain/France. In other words,go for a weekend in France/Spain and learn how to cook food of that territory?

Hello Private Chef,
You mentioned that you work near Zürich. I have a school near Zürich which offers a hot lunch program. The current meal provider is finding the job a bit too much and does not want to continue next school year. For this reason, I am looking for someone to plan, purchase food, and deliver warm meals for between 5 and 25 children from Monday - Friday during days school is in session. Is that something that might be of interest to you? If so, what are your rates?

I arrange cooking courses in my Chalet in the French Alps, especially around Autumn time when we combine the courses with wild food foraging, there are a lot of lovely mushrooms here including cepes and wild berries and fruit, it's great to go hunting in the Alps for your main ingredients.

Hi there
This sounds interesting. Where are you located, do you have a web site? If you could give me more information, I would so appreciate it!

Hi
Do any of you arrange events where kids can make food? Like birthday parties?

Hi there Anne.
Kids cooking classes would need to be safe, yet fun for the kids. Making the foods they love, whilst keeping them healthy as well.
Classes would be based around the children's ages. Ideas would be pizza making (from the dough through to toppings), making fresh pasta and sauces/pestos, making delicious icecreams and fresh fruit toppings.
What number of children do you have in mind and what age groups?

Hello Anne,
I have never done this before, but I do not see why not. For the first couple of years after my two boys were born, I was a stay at home Dad, so I know a little something about cooking with kids.
I find that kids like cooking when they really can get their hands involved, but most of the time their attention span only goes so far. Making doughs, short pastries, cookies, things you can them involved in with out having them pick up sharp objects or get too close to stoves.
When we lived in France my kids went on a boulangerie field trip where the boulangers(bakers) showed the kids the steps for dough(for bread), and then gave them all their own balls of dough to rub and shape. They all got little paper cook's hats, and they loved it. The bakers, baked their doughs, and they took home the bread. Very excited. Plus there isn't much to supervise.
My kids love to use the peelers. Even though they haven't had a problem yet, they can get cut on those things.
I think cooking related classes, or events, for kids, shouldn't be about making a favorite food. But rather teaching them how things are made, and how if they want to, they can take iniative and create something themselves. It's not science, but it's sort of a practical science you can use to teach with. And my kids have fun with it. We cook together everyday, and both have come with me to work, and cooked in the restaurant where I work(on slow nights/days-not a Thursday or Friday night). They are 4 years old.
If you are looking for ideas, and you have an idea of a direction you would like to go in, or need a suggestion, I can help out. If you are looking for some one to do this, I would be interested as well. You can pm me if you like.
