De Hoarding Storage Space Sell Off

This is I suppose a different kind of sale. Not offers or bids. I will be in a couple of weeks time going to clear a storage space I have accumulated over the past several years in France. What I am proposing is I will be at the location, take a ton of pictures, and look for a quick sale on all items. I have another storage space I can take items not sold to, so only reasonable offers will be accepted. I can also deliver to anyone from Geneva to Zurich.

Items in the sale will include kitchen/restaurant equipment, French antiques and brocante items, home cooking and ceramics, DIY wood objects like old shutters and the like. I am just putting a pre sale advert here as I would really like to unload the whole space over a 2 week time. I would keep all the items, most are in very good condition, but I have 4 storage spaces and need to minimalize my life. Please send me pms of items you might be looking for, and I can respond if I have them and give first priority to interested parties. Some are also Ikea pieces. So a wide range.

Not only are you not stating a price but you don't even describe what you are actually selling

This is like Storage Wars!

So basically, here is some footage of Confloozed's commercial savvyness. This is how his storage empire started up:

It is at the moment, but I have thought about doing this for a while but wasn't sure how to approach it. I have also contacted a local brocante in France to have a look which I will do when I am there next time. But to move everything that is there, to another storage space somewhere else to facilitate a sale seems to overwhelming for me at this point. I just want to get thru it as fast as I possibly can. Otherwise I think I will just find a way to keep paying rent and holding onto things I really no longer need at the present time. Like I have demi johns there I was planning on making into hanging lamps. While I still think the idea is kool the place I originally bought them for is gone, and I am just holding them at this point. This is all meant to be therapeutic then anything else.

What a great idea. I have a cellar full of items collected over the years from moving houses, merging households and things which just don't fit.

So anyone looking for anything is welcome to send me a PM preferably with an email address or number so I can send photos if I have what you are looking for. This saves me all the trouble and work involved in posting pictures and prices here.

Re: De Hoarding Storage Space Sell Off

Confloozed, Mrs. Doolittle, and the Mods,

is there perhaps a way - for this Project - that we could start a semi-sticky in "items wanted"? I mean one thread in which all of us who are looking for items could post our wish-lists, so that Confloozed and Mrs. Doolittle and others who have things to give away and to sell, could consult them?

I hesitate to start a "looking for" thread myself, because then it'd be just me, with just my wishes, in my personal thread, and any next person who is looking for other items would have to start her/his own wish-list. I think that if we could pool the posts in one thread, that might lead to less work for Confloozed and Mrs. Doolittle, and more successful matches.

Please will someone who understands the systems in the EF better than I do see if this could work? Thanks very much.

What a good idea - Following the same logic we could do that with all the other EF threads as well - imagine how handy it would be to just have to look in one thread for all the latest info.
I am a little confloosed myself. Why can't they doo-a-little looking in the wanted threads there to see if they have something matching what someone wants?

I have done what you suggested. I look at the Items Wanted forum all the time. I have posted pictures and sent PMs. There is no requirement to state one's budget in the Items Wanted section which does complicate matters.

Some people here are rude and lack basic manners. It only takes a minute to reply and say that the item offered is not what they are looking for or they have found something. In my experience few people do this.

But not everyone is rude. A short time ago someone was looking for a table, and I posted a picture on the thread and sent a PM. I received a really nice reply. The person had found something but still they took the time to write me back and thank me.

Re: De Hoarding Storage Space Sell Off

I have finally had a moment to click some pictures of what I have, and it is really just a bit and fast. I have set up a FB page that can be accessed at the moment, and the items are random. Ranging from common household goods, to a large piece of kitchen equipment. I expect to add more later. What people could do, is add a reply, and just make a list of what they are "wanting" and a proposed budget they had in mind for those items.

If there is any interest to see this page feel free to drop me a pm and I will send the link.

Thanks

Well done, Confloozed, for getting this next step done. I just admire anyone for tackling the whole de-hoarding process, particularly those who, like you say of yourself, really have lots and lots of goods to sort through.

Re: De Hoarding Storage Space Sell Off

Just to revive this...the process has taken me far longer then I thought it would, considering the shear mass of what I have accumulated. I have spent the past 2 weeks in 3 different locations mostly throwing things away, while taking some pictures of what I have. With much more to do. I will only attempt to list items of quality or uniqueness. So in the end it might not seem to be as much. It has been an extremely stressful effort, and consumption levels of beer have risen to get thru it, not to mention other personal issues that have kept me out of town for a while, but finally managing to surface.

Anyone that is interested in what I have to offer send me a pm, and I will send you a link to the page I set up. I will list a few items thru here to give an idea of what the page has to offer.

Again thanks to all that have sent me pms of encouragement and support. I have been trying to sort alot of things out and it really meant something to me, to read it all.

I think I generally just get a thrill from any news of anyone who is Getting On With Something, who is working towards a goal, who is taking deliberate and determined steps to make their own situation (and the lives of others around them) better.

So a big thank you, Confloozed, for letting us know your progress.
And CONGRATULATIONS! I realise it's not over yet, but this sounds like a big step forward. I'm in! I'll send you a PM to ask for the link.
