Re: 20% OFF your bill if you are a EF member - computer repair

The OS is stable, just the drivers aren't and because they run in Kernal mode they can kill the OS. BSOD. 70% plus of all known Bluescreens are caused by dodgy drivers. Only 5% of crashes are due to OS bugs. Then again that is a Microsoft statistic

yes..... which makes the statistic very unreliable..... as it is very biased certainly.

how many people do you know use Microsoft - made computers ??

None..... because microsoft is mainly a soft company not a hardware company.

this means that almost all of the hardware everyone has is NOT made by Microsoft

This also means that almost all of the drivers of all the hardware are NOT made by MS

That's a good thing, I would certainly rather have my hardware manufacturer making drivers for their own devices than MS.

It is the old problem. Project deadlines and testing don't always go together. Plus the added fact ttha I don't think Microsoft do enough to keep Developers informed of changes in standard etc. The info is there on their website, just that it's hard when you don't know it exists.

the governments are the ones who are supposed to protect the citizen's interest in similar cases.

there is a serious need that legislators put some clear rules forcing the OS maker to make very clear statements about changes.

there is serious need that the big giant of the OS be forced to coordinate with hardware makers to improve the consumer's experience.
