Hello my name is Elayne Doughty MA. (MFT 39903) I am happy to be able to provide English language counseling by phone and internet videoconferencing worldwide and in person in Bern Switzerland. I can help you to identify areas in your life that you maybe stuck or experiencing difficulty. Together we can explore the kinds of changes that you might want to make - to enhance and improve your life. We then can come up with a workable plan as to how to make these changes- I am skilled at both looking at how your past has influenced who you are today- and also at how you can make new choices that will change your life today. I work from the perspective that we are naturally motivated towards wellness and balance - and that therapy provides a way to access into that natural capacity that we all have. In other words - I am not the expert on you- you are...I provide the space and my skills as a therapist to help you be able to identify ways that you can move through old issues and live a more fulfilling and healthy life. Our lives are full of changes, transitions and sometimes these can be difficult, therapy can provide the added support so that we can manage to make it through these changes successfully. I have extensive experience in working with all kinds of issues: Xpat transition issues, Depression, Addiction, Drug and Alcohol Recovery, Harm Reduction, Trauma Recovery, Anxiety, Relationship Problems, Life Transitions, Couples Counseling. I received my training and am licensed in California, USA, as a Marriage family therapist (MFT). I have extensive training in Somatic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT, Drama Therapy, Drug and Alcohol Recovery and background of private practice for 10 years. I have a specialization in working with Couples. In addition to my private practice I am also an educator and trainer offering specialized courses in addictions/recovery, women’s life cycle issues, women’s body image issues. About me: I have over the last 10 years gained an extensive background in counseling people from all walks of life. I left the UK 12 years ago and became trained and licensed in San Francisco, California USA, where I still maintain a private practice. I have recently moved to Bern Switzerland. My experience both as an ex-pat both in the USA and in Europe, and an extensive history of world travel, has given me first hand insight into the many challenges and rewards of living in different cultures. I bring my years of experience, compassion and humor, and extensive training to my work with you.
