Australian hairdresser in Zurich

www.productsofdesire.com

<<<<THIS HAS BEEN TOTALLY EDITED FROM FIRST POST, SO SOME ANSWERS MAY MAKE NO SENSE>>>>

My name is Pos, I come from Australia and am now married to my Swiss Miss and living in Zurich.

I am an award winning stylist and colourist with 16+ yrs hairdressing experience.

In Feb 2009 I started a mobile hairdressing service the same as I had run for the last 5+ years in Australia.

My service is totally professional, offering a fully salon experience. I bring all the neccessary equiptment, you must do nothing other than sit back relax and be pampered. I bring towels, vacume cleaner, profi wash basin (no upside down in the sink) this is totally like having the salon come to you.

Perfect for mums with kids, groups looking for a little hair and wine party, weddings, ladies group get togethers, boarding schools and so forth... Late night apt after the kids are in bed are no problem...

Simply put if you find it difficult to get to the salon, why not have the salon come to you! I speak English + German so my service is open to expats + locals alike.

*update for 2011*

2011 prices.
1 x cut = 100
2 x cuts = 100 (50 per person)
3 x cuts = 150 and so on.
* Men, Ladies, Children all same price. Ladies blow dries at no extra charge.

1 x colour n cut = 225
2 x colour n cut = 175 per person
3 x colour n cut = 125 per person (Fridays only)

Since May 2009 I have had a car so getting around is no prob.
I am often booked up early so advise booking early to avoid disappointment.

The best way to make an appointment is to call me on 078 774 62 16
I am happy to travel to all areas of Switzerland to do hair but prices will reflect travel times and costs accordingly.
Weddings and group booking welcomed and and priced to suit time and size of said group.

look forward to hearing from you soon.

cheers and good day

Posko
call me on 078 774 62 16.. This is the best way to contact me as i am not often on a pc nor do i have a fancy smart phone (yet).

Thanks again for the great support
Pos

Re: Hairdresser Mens and Ladies, colours and cuts

Can you translate all that into chf - I think that would help people understand what kind of prices you charge

Re: New Australian hairdresser in Zurich

It was in CHF... he said $ = chf.

However the whole algebra thing required a little extra brain power, but after that quite understandable.

Thank you.

Re: New Australian hairdresser in Zurich

Just out of interest, why would I pay you 80 dollars to come to my house?

Hairdressing is not plumbing.

This may work for events like weddings but not for everyday cuts. You might be better off charging a base price and building your call out rate into the base price.

PS, I may call you when I arrive in Zurich next year, at the salon most likely as the callout price is too steep.

Re: New Australian hairdresser in Zurich

As a disinterested party who lives far from Zurich. At home/office hairdressing is very popular in the UK for so many people who are pressed for time. I am sure also it would be popular for those with mobility and/or transport problems. Think its a great idea if the price is right. Good luck

Re: New Australian hairdresser in Zurich

You are only 5 months in Switzerland. Seems you got a long way to go.
Your prices and algebra calculations are funny. My girlfriend also works as a Hairdresser from home. For 80chf i would expect more than just a cut and blow...dry.

Andre' Joe Hair Salon isn't exactly 'the place to work' for a highly qualified super award winnning Hairdresser like yourself. By the sounds of it you could clearly do better.

Good luck with your business.
peace.

Re: New Australian hairdresser in Zurich

OK, for what its worth this is how it seemed to work where I come from in the UK(Cheltenham, top salon prices there are similar to Zurich). Price was approx 20% - 30% cheaper than in a salon and a callout charge would never be charged. We would wash our own hair, using our own products and towels and of course our electricity ....you need to take into account that the salon is paying all sorts of taxes, business rates, insurances energy bills, maintenance etc etc which would not apply for you if you are going to peoples homes and the customer will expect this to be reflected in the price.....

The ones we used were working part time in top salons while trying to build up there client base to go it alone so quite similar to your circumstances. Hope this helps ....not meant as a negative comment just trying to help as many of the expats on here will be from the UK and will be making the same comparison ...

Re: New Australian hairdresser in Zurich

This makes sense Joolie. Why on earth should you pay more for bending over your own or the hairdresser's bathroom sink to get your hair washed when you can in fact enjoy the comfort of a hair salon with all the correct equipment. When you get your hair cut at home you have to clean up yourself after, not much comfort in that. It just makes sense you should pay more for a hair salon. How does 80 chf cover travel and time of travel within Zürich it seems a bit much does it not or are you expecting the travel to take a couple of hours to and fro?

Re: New Australian hairdresser in Zurich

hold up folks, the 80chf (no more algebra) is not a call out fee is a minimum call out cost. If I go to a client for one hair cut it costs 80chf (total) if i go to that same clients house for 2 haircuts it still costs 80chf (total) and 40chf per person for a cut there after. Haircuts include blow-dry.

I will bring my own dustbuster (vacume cleaner) and will take your hair away to my bin and you don't use your towels as I bring them also. Oh and shampoo + Conditioner also mine... Of course I will be needing to use your electricity. No bending over sinks as I will bring a backwash hair basin with me.

Having run a very successful mobile business in Australia (5 weeks in Perth and then 2 weeks in Bris, Syd and Melb) constantly rotating round the country, I thought a similar business may work in Zurich.

I would really like to know how to edit the first post as it was put up in some what of a rush and is obviously not too clear. Any tips on that or any other matters you would like to chatter over feel free to send me a private message.

CLEARING UP COSTS
YOUR HOUSE
cut and blow 80chf minimum ( 2 people, still 80chf total) 40 chf per person there after.
Colour + Cut + Blow 150chf min 200chf max

cheers for taking the time to read and good evening to all.

Wow, maths is not my strong point, but I did manage to understand your initial post about prices but the replies from other members then got me confused!

For what it's worth, I think your prices are quite reasonable for Zurich standards.

Good luck with your business!
