| Oh, and "Gentleman Enlargement Pills" and IRS phishing scams.
Thanks guys. You sold your list? Or was it just lax security? | |

I only just noticed your message - a PM would have been appreciated. We MOST CERTAINLY have not 'sold our list'. We pay an industry leader in automated email (aweber.com) over CHF 200 per annum precisely to avoid this type of issue. This comes out of our own pockets - the Expat In Switzerland newsletter does not make money. I am the only person with access to the Expat In Switzerland subscriber list and I have never shared a single subscriber email address with anyone else.
As you say you use a specific email address solely for receiving the newsletter then I can think either:
1) Someone has guessed at the email address
2) There has been a security breach at your email address service provider
3) There has been a security breach at our email sending service (which would absolutely infuriate me and suprise me given the amount we pay).
As I have not received complaints from any 1 of our other of our 1000+ subscribers I would strongly suspect that the fault is due to point 1) or 2) or for some other reason rather than anything to do with having subscribed to our free newsletter.
Believe me I sympathise fully with the disgusting mess that spam is. That is why I personally pay for a first class subscriber management system. I really would have appreciated if this had been dealt with privately first as I do not want anyone to be under the misapprehension that we would 'sell'our email list. It is a point of pride that we never have.
