Just wanted to announce that this afternoon we launched a new website SwissWebMall.com which serves as a virtual shopping mall for English speakers in Switzerland. Very simply the site exists to make it easier for English speakers to find what online retailers there are out there who deliver to Swiss addresses.

Working as a store directory split into several sections, the list of retailers featured is by no means exhaustive and will be expanded regularly over the coming months. We thought that the bare-bones version which we uploaded today would still be of use to many English Forum goers and so please come and have a look.

I don't get it; where is the need for this service? In my experience, at least 80% of European stores will ship stuff to Switzerland. I normally just use Google to find the best source for a product, then verify that the store will ship to CH. This seems far more effective than limiting my search to the stores that are on your site. Please tell me why anyone needs your service!

Thanks for your feedback ChrisW. I take your point but would add that Google is only of use if you know what it is you are looking for. I would also add that if you take your argument further then why bother with any type of store at all in Switzerland since the chances are the product can be sourced cheaper somewhere else in Europe? Our site is not intended as an exhaustive list of points of sale for products. SwissWebMall.com is for people who like to browse and find stores they might not otherwise know exist. We make it easy to choose a store based in Switzerland (identified on the site by a Swiss flag next to the name) which many find appealling when looking for prompt delivery, or to avoid all the hassles, uncertainties and costs that are associated with imported items customs duties and courier companies.

The latest issue of our newsletter provides some gift ideas and is intended for use when you are not certain what exactly you wish to purchase. Subscription to the newsletter is free, the choice to purchase anything you see within from any of the stores is yours.
