You can get them Kreuzplatz too. Their market is on Wednesdays too, closing up around 6pm I believe.
Ahh interesting, thanks for that... ill run down at lunch next week. Never been a big olive fan, but they do these small ones all smothered in garlic, and they are simply sublime.

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

The Lebanese lady from the HB is at the Viadukt now Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and she is now selling a big range of olives here. I'm not a big olive fan so can't compare with the others at the HB.

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

Proper dry cured British style back bacon is now in stock at the Viadukt Markthalle. It's made by an English chef here in Zurich and is not full of water, it's the best I've tried yet and only 4.90 / 100 gr (cheaper than Coop Jaro!)

We also have Appleby's Red Cheshire, Swaledale cow, goat, sheep and blue in stock and the only goats milk cheddar around from Mary Quickes farm in Devon. We also have plenty of Exmoor Blue (raw Jersey milk) and from the same dairy, Somerset Blue, Partridge's Blue and Blissful Buffalo Blue.

Tomorrow, the Zurich HB market is back for those of you who can't get down to the Viadukt. Open from 10.00 - 20.00

Finally! I have shed hot tears of woe for the Hauptbahnhof market--not had a decent Wednesday lunch for weeks now.

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

New delivery coming in today, Rachel goat and other goats from Peter Humphries including his new creation "Big Rachel", an 11 Kg version, he's only making one a week at the mo so we're lucky to be getting one. I've heard it's much better than the little Rachel.

We've also got Isle of Mull and IOM with smoked garlic, Stinking Bishop and Cornish Yarg again. There'll all be at the Viadukt in the morning.

Also now at the Viadukt we have Rappi Bier (Gold, Black, Harvest Hop and Big Black) and Sam Smiths ales are arriving again on Monday.

On Saturday we'll be opening the Port again to sample with the blue cheeses. If you haven't tried Swaledale Blue from North Yorkshire yet, you should, it might be my new favourite.

Dear Grapeygrumpfruit,

Can you please confirm that the cheddar used in the baguettes at tonights Funny Laundry will be that of the purple skirt variety?

Regards,

Seems you came in just a little too early, I was stuck in traffic. It's here now and I'm taking a few to the Funny Laundry gig tonight.

She'll be opened tomorrow at the Viadukt, but at 11 kg she's sure to last the week. She does look amazing!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

Speaking of the Viadukt, I have noticed that as your business expands and you as the sagacious executive become increasingly in demand, you have become almost as elusive as the cheese that I covet in the last few weeks (British cheese centre outlets, including Jelmoli have been disappointingly out of Rachel of late).

I understand you may not have yet mastered ninja cloning techniques to create duplicates of yourself at the HB market, the Viadukt and whatever exhibition/gourmet fair you insist on attending to attract even more potential Rachel-gobblers (and hence competitors), but maybe you have a public schedule where your presence at those different locations with the respective times where one can find you is marked?

No disrespect to your fine assistants, but they simply do not match the Chief Käsemeister and his shrewd business sense of indulging in cheesy conversation and (secondarily of course) granting kind discounts to his regular customers.

Yours in expectation,

R.

Can we expect some Yarg on Sunday in Luzern? We're just back from the States and need to re-stock the fridge with some British cheese.

Yarg is in stock and I'll make sure some gets to Luzern, we'll have about 15 cheeses in total. I may also have some Sam Smiths ale and Rappi Bier....

We opened her up yesterday and I think she's just a little too young right now. We'll keep some at the Viadukt but the rest is going into our maturing room to bring her on a little, hopefully she will improve in 3 - 4 weeks.

We've just had a big delivery of Sam Smiths Yorkshire ales, 6 types in all and they are at the Viadukt and the Zurich HB market today. Try the Oatmeal Stout, fantastic with Isle of Mull cheddar (plain and with smoked garlic).

Are we still talking about cheese here or about some unruly pre-adolescent girl with appendicitis?
