Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

Shame that they have still decided to implement the highway robbery method of "if you sit down to eat food that you bought at the market, then you have to buy a drink". For the first month or so you could sit without being hassled, but then they started enforcing the rule again. It's pretty rubbish to buy your food there, sit down to eat it on a table and bench and then get hassled by the bar staff to buy an overpriced drink.

PS: Realized the other day that I haven't come for any Godminster in ages, footten what it tastes like!

That seems a bit steep if you are eating food. I thought the seating area was for food or drink, not necessarily both. If you were just sat there without any food I could understand it, especially if it was a busy time.

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

It seems they had to how to commercial and political pressure a couple of weeks ago, I will be Epping them next week that we and our customers are not happy about it, but I won't be holding my breath!

We're doing a special tasting at Jelmoli today and tomorrow and have 3 new cheeses for them from Yorkshire, Swaledale cow, goat and sheep.

And the viadukt is open until 11 tonight if anyone fancies a beer or Pimms!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

I've got Hawes Mature Wensleydale, traditionally made with animal rennet and cloth wrapped, on offer at the Zurich HB market today, 4.90 / 100gr down from 5.90.

Smoked Salmon and cream cheese bagels and loads of Scones and Clotted cream too. Beer today is Zeitgeist, 5am saint and Punk IPA all from the Scottish Brewdog brewery, they'll all be cold for the after work rush

The SBB have listened to our complaints. They now have a section of tables (the ones without table cloths) where you can eat and drink anything (including my chilled IPA and Stout) without buying a drink from the bar.

I've got Hawes Mature Wensleydale on offer today, 3.90 / 100gr (down from 5.90) and loads of scones and clotted cream and Godminster/Caramelised Red Onion Chutney bagels.

Great price. Might have to snag me some today, along with a refreshing beer (or 3)...

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

If you're in the Winterthur area come and say hello today and try some cheese at the Markthalle Trivisiano in the Marktgasse. I'm there from 11 - 4.30 with about 10 different cheeses to try including Stinking Bishop, Cornish Yarg and Swaledale Goat as well as Scones and clotted Cream.

See you there!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

It's the lastZürich HB market of the year today, thanks to everyone here for supporting us! Next year the SBB have agreed to move it back to Wednesdays and the first one is the 15th January.

For you beer, cheese, bagels, scones and clotted cream fix, you'll have to treck all the way down to the Viadukt now!

But the Christmas market here is very different (and we're not here). Best part of 10,000 chufs for 28 days, I'd have to sell a lot of cheese to cover that!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

We have a massive delivery coming tomorrow so the cheese counter will be full to overflowing again. And Saturday I'm back at the Markthalle Trivisiano in Winterthur giving a free tasting of my cheeses there, as well as scones and clotted cream.

Mince Pies and Christmas puddings will arrive on the next truck in about 2 weeks.

And we're having a Christmas party and you're all invited! Thursday 5th December from 18.00 - 21.00 or later at my Mousetrap pub, next to the cheese counter at the Viadukt market. There'll be free cheese nibbles and warm scones and clotted cream, you just pay for your drinks. I'll create an event nearer the time, but for the time being there's a public event on our Facebook page.

Thanks everyone for supporting us again this year!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

We're hosting a Port and Stilton tasting this afternoon at the Viadukt, at least 6 British Blues and 4 different Port wines open for free tasting.

Over 50 different British cheeses in stock and loads of Christmas goodies here too, Christmas puddings, Mince pies, Christmas ales, Christmas scones and clotted cream etc and we're open Sunday 11 - 6, all day Monday and Tuesday from 10.00 - 18.00.

Thanks everyone for supporting us this year!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

We're back at the Zürich HB market today (moved back to Wednesdays!) from 10.00 - 20.00. Loads of bagels, freshly baked scones, clotted cream, jams and chutneys and cheese of course and to celebrate our return, we have Long Clawson Blue Stilton at half price, only 24.50 / Kg, only 12 kg left so it's first come first served. I also have a few Long Clawson 175gr Stiltons in Ceramic for 15.00 each, down from 25.00

I also have loads of British ales loaded in the van and a few of us will be enjoying a beer or 2 after work at my stand (I've been given a new spot BTW so you'll have to walk around to find me), feel free to come and join us!

Re: The British Cheese Centre of Switzerland

If you like goats cheese you'll love Ragstone. It's made by Neals Yard at their own dairy in Herefordshire from raw goats milk and traditional Kids rennet. It's soft, lemony, lightly goaty with a fantastic peppery finish. It's also extremely expensive at 100.00 / kg .

I've only got half a Kg left at the Zürich HB market today until 8pm and I have some to taste for free... no need to buy any, I'd just like to share the awesomeness of this cheese . But bring your warmest smile, it's freezing in here!

That sounded very expensive at first, but is actually reasonably priced. In the UK it sells for the equivalent of around 60 fr/kg

Nope.... lots of Buffalo Mozzarella made in the UK but no point in me importing it, there's a big Italian stall here at the HB who sells it (not sure of Scamorza though, will have a look next week)
