My family has two holiday homes (with pool) in a converted farm, La Métairie d'Auge, to rent in the beautiful Poitou-Charentes region of France. The properties
La Métairie d'Auge is an exquisite farm dating back to the 16th century, surrounded by the unspoilt, rolling countryside of the Val de Gartempe.

La Maison, built in about 1850, has been renovated and converted to provide a comfortable and spacious three bedroom home for up to 6 people. La Maison opens onto its own large south-facing terrace over looking the pretty courtyard. La Maison is available from April to October.

L'Ecurie has been carefully converted from the farm's stone stable to provide accommodation for up to 5 people. It is available for rent all year round and is centrally heated - ideal for cosy Autumn/Winter holidays. L'Ecurie opens onto the courtyard on one side and has a private garden on the other.

L'Ecurie may be booked with La Maison to accommodate larger groups.

La Maison and L'Ecurie have exclusive use of the site including the pool (securely fenced, ideal for children) which has its own terrace. The pool is open from late May to late September, when temperatures are usually perfect for bathing.

Owners speak English and French and live on-site.

Local area
The property is within walking distance (approx 1.5km) of the picturesque villages of Vicq–sur-Gartempe and Angles-sur-l'Anglin (holder of an award for one of the prettiest villages in France).
Situated on the edge of the Brenne National Park the area is rich in wildlife and the many paths, tracks and quiet country lanes make it ideal for walking, cycling and horse-riding.
A visit to the Futuroscope theme park is highly recommended!
The nearby rivers Anglin, Creuse and Gartempe are popular for canoeing and fishing.
The beautiful spa town of La Roche Posay is 8km away. The town is an important centre for the treatment of skin conditions for which the spa water is said to be an effective cure. The town has many shops and a supermarket as well as weekly markets- one food and one general. The town also has a beautiful 18 hole golf course which is open to non-members. Chatellerault is the nearest large town (30km) . The town has excellent shops and several supermarkets as well as a large weekly market.
The historical city of Poitiers is a 45 minute drive away. The ancient city is situated on a hill and is excellent for shopping and sight seeing.
