Re: Gel nails

Maybe you girls can answer my question. I had my nails done during the summer with Gel and I loved it. The reason I stopped was because they scratch the nail so much that it becomes like silk paper and you can see the redness of the skin coming through.

Since then, my nails are shitty looking, they can't grow hard because they still too weak, etc. I loved to have them done, but it makes me mad to see what they became...

I was thinking to learn to do it myself...

Everybody has their style when making nails, theres a myth that you need to remove several layers of nail bed so the product sticks better, I was an enemy of that since my goal is to get beautiful nails done, wether they have acrylic or simply my client wanted to decorate their natural nails. I make acrylic nails, not gel, the resoults at the end look almost the same, acrylic get you more design options and gel is more limited on that aspect. What I was doing sometimes with natural nail clients is to make a layer of acrylic over their nail to help them grow. and when they have reached the desired growth, remove the acryilic and continue decorating and at the end apply only one layer of gel to protect both the nail and design.
We can try a lot of options, If you wish gel the OP could do your nails, or acrylic I can do them Also if you really want to learn, im willing to teach how to do them yourself.

Re: Gel nails

What's the diff between gel & acrylic? Mama G has very soft nails, spends ages getting them to look nice... then they just break, and I have to hide for 24 hours.

Re: Gel nails

That is caused through over filing of the natural nail. t is incorrect and very sad that you have experienced that. there is a new product out in the market called shellac, it is a great product which causes no damage to the natural nail and last for at least 2 weeks. High shine and beautiful. you can read more about it if you head to the Creative Nail Design website!!!!! Fantastic and can highly recommend it. in the meantime suggest nail envy by OPI to strengthen your natural nails. I Hope you get your nails back to good condition
