As I when on visit to Ticino rather drink wine, I now have some questions

> what about Chicco d'Oro ?? that national coffee of the Ticino and most likely the official drink of the LEGA DEI TICINESI

> what about Expresso in Ticino ? is that Italian Espresso or the Nestle stuff ?
We usually drink Chicco d'Oro, also at work.

Espresso in Ticino is closer to Italian espresso than in the rest of CH, but it's still much better in Italy.

How important in Trieste is ILLY ?
They have a big factory there, but we normally buy Lavazza when there.

Most bars there use something other than Illy.

I'll be looking for Passalacqua again when I am in Italy this week - the Harem really is rather good.

Actually, it's with pressure and a lower temperature than filter coffee but don't worry, I won't groan you for writing (more) drivel.
Solubility of coffeine in water:
20g/litre at room temperature
180g/litre at 80°C

Obviously, higher temperature means more coffeine content.

Now, what 80°C or even 95° means for the aroma carrying components is a different aspect altogether, and probably much more important for a good coffee.

There's an obvious (potential) reason why you didn't steer in this direction

That's why more pressure is used with espresso, to draw out the coffee oils etc at a lower temperature.

It's also why freshly ground coffee is better. How much taste and aroma is left from coffee beans ground a year before use? (Oh, like in Nespresso).

Re: Smoking on the train platforms.uughh

I thought this thread was about smoking on platforms?

And now its about quality of coffee and coffee machines, heat of water, countries of origin of coffee beans, virgins, V8`s, etc.

See? Everyone is different. You argue about smoke, you argue about coffee, you argue about refugees ...... Why not chill out and live till you die, peacefully, happily, and tolerate others foibles?

We weren't talking about aromas, coffee oils, flavour or whatever, just about how caffeine is extracted from coffee, so have the good grace to appologise for your mistake for once

In an open space where smoking is allowed by law..., what a stupid post.
This, right here, is what we call a sense of humour malfunction.

Who the f*** carries a bottle of water around with them? It's vodka, of course...

All you guys arguing over Nespresso... you know you can get a decent Delonghi bean to cup machine for not much more than a Nespresso machine that does a better job? You don't have to pay 1500chf for one like interdiscount might like to have you believe

As Long as I had a filter machine, Lavazza was my favourite. But two years ago I won a free of charge DELIZIO machine for which I use DELIZIO/MOCOFFEE coffee. Will shift back when the machine gets out, but for the time being, it works and the coffee is quite good

You could easily combine both... some kids are now smoking coffee to get high...

Lavazza Rosso is pretty good... but when you find a shop that freshly roasts the beans... even that will taste old.

The two seem to go together.

I had someone working for me once and his retort before he started anything new was (he was Scottish) "First im going t'ave a fig and a cup o'coffee!"

A good coffee and a cigarette first thing in the morning is great. I have the lavazzo coffee and one of those bubbly up expresso pots.

The vodka spray, maybe later on in the afternoon!! Do you spray it straight into the mouth or all over the face? Is tonic water mixed in? With a dash of lemon juice?!!

Well... the water spray was for putting the cigarette out... the vodka spray... might have a slightly different end result
