Last year we moved from Basel City to Zürich, and we had a year left on our BS-issued C-permits - you're supposed to renew every 5 years normally.

Having moved to ZH, we duly re-registered at the local "Kreisburo" (district office) and stumped of SFr160 for new ZH-issued C-permits which were valid for...a year.

And today (a year later) we stumped up another SFr160 to have our permits renewed for another 5 years. I am guessing it is too much to ask to be given 5 year C-permits on re-registering in ZH...

No wonder taxes are low here!
