I love starbucks.
I really like some of their drinks... mostly those with plenty of milk or ice and little or no coffee. E.g. I love Strawberry Cream Frappucino or even a Vanilla Latte once in a while.

But Starbucks' espresso is dreadful.

Re: Starbucks Coffee

If anybody cares, I like the coffee from the Spettacolo cafes which are around Switzerland, often in train stations. They have recently (?) started offering "Light / Medium / Dark" as a choice when you order from them and the Dunkel Cappuccino gives me the mental kick I need as I jump on the train to Bern in the morning.

Can't tell you the name of the bean rubber or the temperature of the roasting, but it tastes niiiiiiiice

Both. There are no ingredient panels on whisky bottles
I'm sorry but I have to vehemently disagree with what you are implying.

I'm very familiar with the use of added flavourings, natural or artificial, and they are strictly forbidden in Scotch Whiskies that are labelled as such, malt or grain.

They make excellent coffee, I like it too. They are expanding quickly, no doubt because they got the basics right, and they seem to train their staff well.

Re: Starbucks Coffee

If only spectacalo would cut back on the size of the foam mountains they put on their cappacino, then maybe they'd be worth the chf.

Is it actually popular to have thick foam like they do? I don't quite get it

Jura is a single malt as far as I'm concerned.

Alright, but when hearing Jura in connection with "liquids" I think of "liquefied limestone light" (LLL)

I never have milk coffees so I haven't tried it.

It is a style to have thick foam on top, in N. America and England for example, but it's not authentic to an Italian cappuccino, of course.

Capuccino and Milk Coffee and Café Crème are three different things, not to be mixed up.

Of course, I just meant I don't drink coffee with milk in it.

Then you have Renversé, Au Lait, Latte, etc. etc. etc.

Can't stand Starbucks coffee and their huge thick mugs- but hey ho, each to his/her own.

At a tangent though, many people in the UK are currently boycotting Starbucks for choosing to pay (much lower) taxes in CH and none in the UK. Does anyone know where Starbucks CH pay taxes to - the Cayman Islands??

Costa on the other hand seem to be paying fair taxes in the UK - and their coffee is marginally better.
Starbucks are now in talks to pay more taxes in the UK. This could be that the boycotts by some and negative publicity is beginning to hit them. It could also be that they fear a compulsory tax change that could hit them even harder.

"Renversé" ? Is that comparable to what I during a whole night continually got served by a major of our regiment when we had to "guard" a phone where not a single call came in. The coffee was swimming on top of the Schnaps and gave the liquid a coffee-like colour I nevertheless felt secure as being with a major makes a lot of a difference !

Some British people could have taken Starbucks to court in the Canton of Vaud with even worse results. You see, if you as part-owner of a company live in one town and work in another, the two towns will negotiate a deal about you, by which the place of work gets a part of the taxes reimbursed by the place of residence. The basis of these calculations is the tax-levels of the two towns. Interesting of course would be to hear (have heard) what the lawyers told the Starbucks managers

After the Germany debacle, nobody in Switzerland is in the mood to risk more conflicts with other countries.

No, those have other names!

Renversé here means a milky coffee in a cup, similar to a Grand Crème in France, or a Cappuccino without the froth. You don't hear the term as often anymore, with all the fashion for Italian styles and names for coffee these days. The name came from the way you up-ended a shot of coffee into the warm milk in a cup.

I loved the Starbucks in the USA.. here however, I find it too ''milky'' I dont know why.. My latte just tastes like a cup of hot milk with some sugar in it, rather than a regular latte that I was used to !

You sound like a candidate for upselling. You need an extra shot. (not that it's not already on the expensive side)
