Obviously more out-of-work zombies in the east.

On this side they tend to do shop work; but they do demand long lunch breaks.

So, the newspaper publisher immediately got a nice email telling them that I would bring all (and I mean ALL) newspapers delivered to my address over to their place if they didn't stop sending it immediately.
I tried E-Mail, I also spoke twice to the delivery lady, no effect. I then put the paper in an envelope and sent it back without a stamp. The second time it worked, and she stopped delivering her paper.

I should add that you have to accept the "official" newspaper with all the official notices about planning applications etc etc.

.

and in my neighborhood, they RUN.

its kind of scary actually. our building is on a hill and our bedroom is on the back of the building, so faces "uphill"; basically despite being on the 1 OG we are at ground level for people coming up our path until just before they hit our balcony, at which time the path turns and drops and leads to the door.

so when these knuckleheads come RUNNING PANTING AT FULL SPEED AT 4AM down the path it sounds like theyre going to crash thru the window and end up in bed with us.

Woke me up every single time for the first year, and still does on occaison.

Inform the publisher that you have a bucket full of white mice and you will stamp on one everytime one of their newspapers lands in your letterbox.

Cheers,
Nick

I've found that nothing stops the tide of junk mail and junk newspapers here. I've got no idea why, but that stuff gets delivered no matter what.
Same here. Doesn't matter what stickers you put on your mailbox, they're simply ignored in my experience. Pizza menus, political advertising, free newspapers, mailshots for everything from car repairs to preparing your tax return, it all gets dumped in there. The stickers are a waste of time.

Re: Ignored no-free-newspaper sticker

in germany there is a association where you can address violationg your request to. if you say "keine werbung" (unpersonalized) or "keine gratist zeitungen" and youll be delivered still, tell them and they send out a warning. in germany you can also get rid of fon calls and direct marketing, simply put your name on the "robinson list". violating that can cost seriously money.

in CH its the konsumentenschutz

http://konsumentenschutz.ch/kernthem...elefonwerbung/

below you can see that marketing calls made though you dint want them havent any affect but in 2009 the budesrat is about to put up a law against it. dunno where it went missing?

http://www.hausbau-forum.ch/off-topi....html#post5633

the post (2nd on page) from admin on 17.04.2010 ask "who gets advertising materials though you have that sticke on your postbox? end violaters to email address and we will follow that up".

but it seems like fighting windmills...there is still no law against it, only busting the poor paper boy and telling him off to just leave it.... in a way he will understand, i guess

these people i cant blame as the employer sneaks around n checks if they have stuffed all the boxes in their area... its the advertizer that are to blame...

Me too. All kinds of rubbish. I just stick it straight into the recycling.

It was much worse where I lived in London though. Used to get a sea of business cards from pizza delivery shops and taxi companies on my door mat.

Re: Ignored no-free-newspaper sticker

I've got the "No junkmail" sticker on the letter-box, too (inherited from the previous tenant, but I actually want the free local newspaper).
Recently, the CoS started to remind me that I only use 10% of my mental capabilities. Must be some new over-achiever in the neighborhood.
I'm actually debating to amend the sticker with a "...and that includes CoS flyers, too" sticker.

If by "no junkmail" you mean "Keine Werbung/Keine Reklame", you should still get the free local newspaper, as newspaper isn't classified as "Werbung/Reklame".
Does CoS have a phone number or email address? Telling them (off)/ that you don't want their flyers, might change things...

I got a flyer from a pizza place today. Took it out of my mailbox and put in on top of the pile of pizza place cards one of my neighbors must have started today

Re: Ignored no-free-newspaper sticker

Delving back into my thread - today I got mail from Post. Inside was a package of something I didn't really bother looking at because the most prominent item was a double "Werbung ok!" sticker . Yeah right - I have a very clear "No advertisement and no free newspapers" sticker on my mailbox and I would have thought that the mailman, of all people, would then refrain from tossing this kind of stuff into my box - even though it is addressed to me, it's still advertisement and I - in clearly spelled out words - don't want it.
And this definitely won't make me remove my sticker.

If it's addressed to you, they MUST deliver it.

The no-advertisement sticker is valid only for un-addressed stuff.

I know that, but I find it sneaky - the fact remains that there clearly is advertisement in the addressed mail and I - as said above - don't want that (The sticker on my box doesn't contain the word "unadressiert", after all). Address mentioned or not, advertisement is unwelcome, full stop.

Re: Ignored no-free-newspaper sticker

I had a related problem: I don't actually mind the free papers (I just want the ads in them, really), but they were stuffing them in the letterbox, either making it hard for the postman to put in letters after, or smushing letters that were already inside, depending on who made it to the building first. So I put a sticker on my mailbox saying "Please put newspapers in milk box", and they just stopped putting them in the mailbox altogether. But since they always leave a stack on the counter, I can just grab what I want!

I used to get upset about these as I have the 'no junk mail' sticker...... until I couldn't find good cloths for cleaning windows without smears.... now I have a little pile in my cleaning cupboard for just that reason, and have smear free windows too

I send all unwanted junk mail back to them unstamped with a small note.. no junk mail sticker means no junk mail at xxx address ... it works immediately.

Re: Ignored no-free-newspaper sticker

I am OK with their stupid flyers , they just want more business for their pizza, haircut , whatever they do. But there was one guy who was putting those flyers all the time, it made me angry and once I saw him and told him that if he puts it again, I will stick up his ---. And that was it . But I am not going to spy on these guys and tell him I will stick something up their--- because it is just not worth it.
