When I order my eggs directly from the farm, they are brought only on Wednesday. How could I have forgotten that tomorrow is the first August ?
He nearly chopped my head off when I phoned him.... gave me a whole lecture about people trampling on other feeling, and that's how the WW2 was created, tell you the truth I didn't get all of it, it's the real swiss german,
but just because I ordered eggs ... ?!?

I think the Swiss prefer to keep a distinction between worklife and leisure. They work hard, and play hard and look forward to leisure time purely as personal / family time.
Planning is thus vital.
I got 10 eggs today for 89 eurocents!

Well he does have a point about WW2. Not sure what it is or how much he knows about history, but I'm sure his feelings were hurt by your egg needs in a manner similar to herr hitler's were by the terms of that treaty. Be careful, he might invade somewhere.

I'm not sure why he was insulted. After all it only officially became a work-free day on 26. September 1993 (after a popular vote)...
But assuming that he is a farmer he was probably busy organizing the the "1 August Buure Zmorge" (find a participating farmer near you on http://www.brunch.ch/)...

Eier Meier delivers on Thursdays, if that's any help (Zurich region afaik).
On holidays, they'll deliver double the amount on the Thurs beforehand, so you don't get caught eggless.

I just wonder how you get from ordering eggs to starting WW2? Did you tell him about your plan to invade Poland or something. Did you have in your hand a piece of paper?
FWIW there is a German in my office who has Prussia's Glory as a ringtone. Does anyone know where I can get "we're going to hang out the washing on the Siegfried line?"
