Re: Swiss post and lazy postman rant

It has happened to me here, in Geneva, many times. I work from home a lot, and I am always home if I know there's a delivery that day, but many a times I found the that silly slip in the mailbox downstairs, which means they didn't even bother to come up to the our door.

The NEVER come to your door, just the post box, and ring the bell.

In Carouge they do, I've waited in at my son's place several times for deliveries. The postman opens the outer door to the block of flats and then comes up to the flat door. Only if there's nobody in does he fill in the dread yellow slip.
It's possible some postmen are lazier than others, but you can't generalise by saying NEVER.

Alas, here they can open the outer door, but not the inner door, so they cannot come to your door.

It all depends on how your building is constructed, but most buildings I've seen are like this.

We don't have an intercom, so for packages and registered letters they used to come. It's only recently that I've noticed notes were left in the mailbox even when I was home (meaning, they didn't come up).

Re: Swiss post and lazy postman rant

Give me your address...

I'll send you a small package (anonymously), with the words written on it:

DEAR POSTMAN,
IT IS YOUR SACRED DUTY TO DELIVER THIS PACKAGE.
GOD IS WATCHING YOU.

The post office is supposed to have a master key (or code) to access building with double entries. But with so many people being out during the day it's sort-of understandable that the postman gets fed-up with traipsing up and down stairs with parcels he can't deliver, then wasted another few minutes filling in forms.

The OP really needs to catch her bloke and have a word...

I think it's becoming more and more rare that they actually come to your door. In my last flat she would come, because she could see me sitting in front of my computer at the window. But where i am now, i get the yellow slips.

A bottle of wine and a card at Xmas...our postman always rings and if we're not in, he will leave the parcel with a neighbour, unless it requires a big payment (import duties)... A small price to pay for a good service!

Re: Swiss post and lazy postman rant

Not a postman rant but a DHL rant... recently received a card in the post box saying DHL had a package they could not deliver as they didn't have the right address. Odd I thought as they had managed to put me a card in the right box... so I use the online redelivery option to arrange a new time for delivery... I wait in, and wait, and wait... then give up go out check box... again a card - can't deliver as don't have the right address. So I ring DHL - nice man explains they can't deliver as the address is incomplete on the box. I ask how they know where to put the card.... answer - it's on the mailing invoice, attached to the box.

Re: Swiss post and lazy postman rant

We got a full refund for the postage from Parcelforce in the end..
But what a waste of time....

See below

Subject: Re: Important Information Regarding Your Parcelforce Worldwide Claim xxx
This is complete rubbish
1) The parcel came back to me in the UK with a letter saying that the contents was damaged.
I opened the contents.
It is all there - undamaged. But in a different box. I counted each packet of baby food.

2)There is a secretary at the Receiving address who is there between 9am-6pm every day.

She would have contacted the recipient to say that a parcel had arrived in Zurich.
The parcel would have been collected if it had reached the other side.

3) I have pictures and videos of the parcel when it arrived back to me in the UK before and while opening to prove this. I can forward to you if needed

Something has gone wrong with Parcel force and as a result

a) it was not delivered
b) You have wasted my time dealing with this claim (about 3 weeks)
c) You have wasted the cost of sending it

Please email me or call me urgently to decide next steps.
I have no reason to make things up!! I sent a parcel which was sent back to me for no good reason.

As a result you wasted my time and the recipients time!!

They still do not have the baby food!!

kind regards

Dear
Thank you for your enquiry of 22/05/2014 regarding item number xxx

From the information received from our International Partners, it has been advised that the recipient was advised that the parcel was being held for collection. As the parcel was unclaimed, the International Agents could not hold the parcel indefinitely, leading to its subsequent return.

As such, on this occasion no compensation can be offered in relation to your claim.

Yours sincerely

Hey guys,

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this or its just my post man who hates me.

Like most people, me and my boyfriend like to buy things online and have it sent over to us, this is mainly bike parts as we can never find what we need over here. After ordering lots of items the past 2 years we're used to the crazy import tax they charge us for items that cost less than a 5er so this is not what irritates me. We get the items delivered to my work office as there is always someone here to sign for it.

However over the past year, since we have had a new postman for the office, every time we order something, it takes longer for the items to be delivered (this dosent bother me as im sure there are reasonable explanations for this) and every time i go down to the post box i get the dreaded yellow slip.

I can understand why they write the slip if no one is in, however there is aways someone in the office as of 7.30am and they shoot themselves in the foot because they write the time they tried to deliver it which is normally between 9-10am and I know for a fact i am in the office at that time.

Once again i was expecting a packge today (and getting excited about it as it means i can finish building my bike ) and there is nothing....i wait until lunchtime to check the letter box and lo and behold another bl**dy slip is in the box claiming they tried to deliver at 9.38am but no one was here. Its not as if the buzzer is broken as people come in and out all morning. So now, I have to wait until tomorrow to collect it from the post office local to my work which is over 45 minutes away from my home and it also means i cant go biking this weekend because i don't have my final bike part i needed

Do i just have an extremely lazy postman who cant be bothered to get into the lift to bring it to me or does she just hate me?!

I'm never one to complain to companies about bad service (i'm too lazy and cant be bothered with the hassle) but this is really getting on my t*ts now!

Anyone else have this issue and get cheesed off by it or am i just a little bit too angry female on a rant today?

thanks for reading my massive rant
Never had any probs, but our postman only rings once. If you're not quick to answer the door, bad luck, he's gone.
They also have to keep up with a schedule.

Re: Swiss post and lazy postman rant

Just to add, (for the OP is they are still around), since you live in Basel why not have stuff delivered to a mailing address in Germany. No import tax, no extra fees. An email is sent when the parcel arrives at the delivery warehouse and you pop and get it at your convenience.

Just google LAS BURG in Weil arm Rhein

Re: Swiss post and lazy postman rant

I've only had magical experiences with Swiss Post and can only raise my hat to them.
(disclaimer - this does not reflect my usual alertness level

I sent a letter forgetting to stamp it, forgetting to put a return address and then found out that I put the wrong address of the receiver and no signatures Guess what? The mail ended up back in my mailbox....Swiss magic..

Mine still haven't learned that my wife doesn't get up that early, and hates to answer the doorbell, which is why I pass by the PO if I'm expecting something (they all know me by sight, I don't even have to ask if they've got something for me).
