Just the topics from last few days really got me wondering about the picture some of us foreigners leave here in Switzerland and how I understand the Swiss are so distant when it comes to foreigners.

First, a guy gets a loaner car for free and than wants the garage to pay for his trips, 500km everybody.

Second, another guy openly admits that he screw over the Swiss Health Insurance system for 1000s of CHF for lying on his arrival date and living here for 3 months without insurance... He admits its illegal, but it's no big deal for him.

Third one tries to shift vouchers at full price where you can buy the same for 3% off at any Coop store and much less on the private market.

And don't even let me start on people trying to shift their overpriced cars here and who get mad when they receive an offer HIGHER than any dealer in Switzerland would offer - they still are mad because it is not the price from autoscout

Who knows what other ways foreigners do here to cheat off the system?

I would imagine that was the way to go back in your home country (just like mine) but avoiding and doing all the loop-holes or illegal things that may not get you caught here, don't you think if everybody else was doing it like this it would make Switzerland just like your own country (for which, I guess doesn't have as good living standard as Switzerland, otherwise what the hell are you doing here)

We live in the best country in central Europe and probably beyond and you still do cheap bastard scams like back home, ffs, what do you want, Switzerland to turn into France?!

Add to your story the "bad cleaning lady" who's actual illegal employer does not pay taxes and does not cover insurance; and so on, and so on.

This sounds like a rant one would hear in any developed country with a high standard of living. I have heard this almost verbatim in the US many times. I'm assuming others on here can perhaps vouch for this in other countries as well... But I don't see how it applies to foreigners here. Sure a percentage of the foreign community can be shifty and scummy when it comes to some things, but I'm sure if one looks hard enough, a similar percentage of the host nationals can be equally shifty and scummy...

No doubt about it, there must be same behavior at the MINORITY of Swiss people too, but unlike them, we came here by choice and will, nobody forced us to come here. So the very least we can do is to obey the system as it is functioning well.

Agreed. When in Rome and all, but lighten up on the broad generalizations based upon experiences on a foreign-language forum populated and frequented primarily by foreigners. The few that behave this way aren't indicative of the whole of us...

Yeah the Swiss must hate it. Half the foreigners doing the shitty jobs that they don't want to do and the other half doing the jobs where there aren't enough qualified Swiss to fill the vacancies. A terrible business.

I think they hate foreigners because we dont understand their customer service etiquette.

You know, like the one where cablecom disconnects your service when you tell them you move, and then after calling them 30mins at a time 5 times a month, everything they tell you is actually wrong or incorrect or doesnt happen. Then they start sending you bills, but no service, Then when you tell them its still not working they ask do you want us to send engineer or a new box and when you ask for both, thats not possible and you get angry and they are confused.

Then they send a box to your old address and say, didnt you just switch your billing address and not your service address? These guys.

I did think that was just cablecom or me.

But then Orange cancel your contract without telling you. Then with the same phone call scenario above they send the wrong invoices 3 times and cant explain why an invoice for one month is 500chf when a phone has been off for 3 months and the subscription is 120 a month. Then on the 4th time they wont talk to you becuase they have passed it to Inkasso even though you had mentioned on every call you are trying to resolve this and they tell you all issues are on hold until matter resolved. Then you call the inkasso people numerous times, and they say ok we'll send you details, and dont, 3 or 4 times trying. Then they send you a betreibungsamt. Then when you call them angry they are confused.

These Swissies are great, damned foreigners with their not understanding the ways of the world here.

Nah, I hated foreigners before I subscribed to EF; even before it was modern.
