I got flashed in Germany with 14 miles (22km/h) above the speed limit and needed to go to the Swiss police for identification... Obviously the photo was good enough - 70 EUR to pay.

I came back to my car and had a ticket as appearently I parked my car wrongly... 100 !!!! CHF...

What a country...

as I needed to pay - a complaint I think

i had about the same speed and i just had a letter. but as my car is RHD no one was driving the car according the to the camera angle. i paid it but according to some german friends if it cant be shown who was driving then there is no need to pay.

Complaining because you got caught in both case or complaining because you did both mistakes?

Complaining that I pay more for wrong parking in Switzerland than for 22 kmh above speed limit in Germany...

And angry as I took the time to go to the police to let me identify and getting another fine

You shouldn't have gone higher than the speed limit and you should have taken the time to look for a proper parking.

Maybe letting you off with a warning would have been fairer...

Lesson learned - next time I will let them come to my place trying to catch me. At least I only have one fine.

Who does really understand the system of different colours for the parkings in Switzerland. It is even different from Kanton to Kanton it seems...

And why I need to pay 100 CHF for wrongly parking? In Germany I would have paid 5 EUR.

Quite right, I would be angry with myself if I stupidly parked illegally and got caught, especially after being caught speeding.

Re: CHF 100 fine, that is the proposed amount for smoking weed and possession of up to 10g of cannabis. Better chill out the next time. Because in other countries we would see you playing hangman.

I believe some things are more expensive in Switzerland compared to other countries. I'm sure someone will one day start a thread about it here on EF.

Normally a parking ticket is 40.- . If it cost you 100.- you must have parked in a place seriously and obviously wrong, like on a zebra crossing.

The wheel chair symbol, painted on the ground, should have given you a clue.

The speed cameras in Germany are made to take photos of drivers who sit in the left side of the vehicle, so with RHD cars the driver can't be easily identified.

“The number plate is not enough. We need clear evidence of who is driving the vehicle too. But because this is a British vehicle we can never get a decent picture. The driver has obviously worked this out because he has placed a large puppet in the passenger seat."

The camera automatically blurs the right seat if there is someone sitting in the left one.
