Beware: Unprofessional service in Interdiscount

It started when my iPhone 5 was defect on its screen (discoloration). I brought it to interdiscount where I bought it, and at first they took my iPhone straight away and they told me that it is defect and they will replace the iphone.

After a week, they sent me a notification that it's not possible to repair it, therefore they gave me three choices, whether 1) I just want to throw away the phone and it still costs me CHF 80 for service charge. 2) I will get the phone back and it costs me CHF 80, and 3) I get replacement but I have to pay CHF 351.

In the letter, they said that it's not under warranty!!! WTF? First, I bought it on the beginning of November, there is no way that it's not under warranty. Then they said that "Maybe you broke the phone!" Oh come on, I said to them that I didn't broke it, since I never drop it or jailbreak, or do anything stupid to it and as far as I know, it has been a big issue for the screen of iPhone 5 (discoloration) that some customers across the world got similar problem. They still insisted that It's my fault

Since I need a phone for communication, ok then, I decided to get the replacement which costs me CHF 351. after I have decided, they told me that the replacement will take less than a week.

But until today (it has been almost 2 weeks) the replacement has not come yet. And when I asked them, when exactly I will get it, they said maybe you have to wait for another week.

Is this what they call professional? So guys, just watch out if you buy some electronics from interdiscount. Maybe it's cheap, but the service is so terrible.

My iphone 5 had a minor issue with the speaker, I went to Orange and they referred me to apple store for quick resolution. I took appointment at Apple store and withing 10 minutes, they gave me a new iphone 5 without much discussion.

You might have tried at the apple store instead.

Maybe because there isn't an apple store in Bern? We don't all live in Zurich (or Geneva).

Having said that I think I would have contacted Apple directly if I were in the OP's situation. I certainly wouldn't have paid 351chf for a new phone.

If they are saying that you broke the phone, then I guess it's not a failure so therefore not covered under warranty, hence the charges. Also putting the phone to InterDiscount only lengthens the time the phone is down as they send it to there service centre who then probably send it to Apple... best just go straight to Apple, or if you took Apple care phone them as the are normally excellent on the repairs/replacement thing.

Hardly a challenge to set a genius apt' and hop on a train to an Apple store on a Saturday, or go to 1 of the 2 (according to google) Apple resellers in Bern.

You have posted a few times and then this? Who, with the exception of an idiot is going to believe someone who has not built up a scrap of trust (reputation) in this forum and who then posts negative comments about Interdiscount.

I think there is a little more to this. Like a personal vendetta?

Just in case you are for real, here's the deal, your iphone has 2 water sensitive stickers inside it, if either* of these has triggered then your SOL, if it looks like you have dropped it then your SOL

* I hear they allow 1 of the 2 to trigger and still honour the guarantee, but this may be different by country

I've called apple (the one in Zurich) they said that, instead of going to Zurich, I have the same chances if I just return it to where I bought it.

But I don't know whether Interdiscount did contact apple or they tried to fix my iPhone by themselves.

I also had the bad experience twice with Interdiscount and they tried to fool me with some rubbish stories. If you have receipt of your purchase then just stick it on to their face where it say's about warranty.

I thought all Swiss residents get a halbtax eventually..............seems I am wrong.

But fair do's, circa 250chf up instead of 325.........., still seems a better deal

Everyone seems to have one I know, whether in possession of car or not as a) most people use public transport a lot, be it for work, skiing, general commuting and b) employers provide them a lot of the time.

None the less, even without halbtax, a trip to Zurich could still of saved the OP 250 chf instead of 325 or 300. Which is still a better deal.
