This happened to me once. I left everything in a pile at the door of their apartment building. I was delivering free furniture, and they weren't there. I figured they could deal with it.
Well done

Not an option for non-free stuff though.

I hope you are giving those people red blobs.
Yeah, reputation is silly, you are a loser if you care about it, blah blah, but I wouldn't buy from or sell to anyone in the red.
Those blobs are there for a reason

These are often precisely the whiners who will either retaliate in kind if you red blob them, or start up some ultra-whine thread titled "why am I being unfairly red blobbed" and will even stir up the forum's resident rent-a-lynch-mob to take up their side of the argument.

This is why I feel reasons for blobbing should be public, not private.

I decided to stop selling to people with no forum posts (or only replies to free or for sale items).

That's what prosperityjoy did to me this morning after I red blob her for being so rude...

Re: Bad manners from Forum members

had a few muppets ask me if I could bring in a free satellite dish with me on the train into HB, all 80cm of it.

and of course the jokers who don't seem to be able to read and only want one tiny part of the free item rather then all of it.

now we just give anything we need to get rid of to the local brocki, far less grief

Offending people by disagreeing with them is the most heinous crime possible in PC society.

Fortunately my experience selling and buying through EF has been great. I have bought many items and also sold many items here and never had any problem. I am happy to know that not everyone here in EF is so unreliable!

Post count doesn't always mean much.
Some newbies have very few posts and as they only just arrived need lots of items.

I sold a bunch of things to someone in that situation and it was uncomplicated. Win-win for everyone.

Thanks for this post..totally agree. We've also had people who show up hours late when the kids are asleep. I always give my phone number out and ask people to text if there are any changes. Too few seem to use it though.

I think you have to expect this when selling goods on an internet forum.
Why? Its common courtesy to turn up when you promise to regardless of the forum which you have found an item for sale. Using the excuse that you expect that on the internet is a cop out.

Re: Bad manners from Forum members

A friend advertised 2 leather sofas, woman said she would buy them, pricec agreed and also collection date time.

She didnt arrive at the time and when questioned further she had expected him to deliver them to zurich.. from basel !

When told in no uncertain terms that wasnt going to happen she started a rant how her day was now ruined and she cant come to basel, even though it was previously agreed.

Sadly it was an established member here, no love the world doesnt revolve around you.... you know who you are.

I did provide full address details, alternative address should the satnav not recognize the actual address, the name of the nearest bus stop and my phone number.
I assumed that people who are smart enough to remember a username and password would have the sense to check google maps?
I should've known better than to assume I guess.
And there still are printed maps and atlases (for towns, Cantons, countries) on the market which you can take with you when on your way.

Re: Bad manners from Forum members

My opinion is that people shouldn't reserve things or give priority to the first person to send a PM etc. It just encourages the 'I'll bag it and think about it later' syndrome.
Imagine if it was like that in a shop -
Customer: "I'll take this please"
Shop: "Sorry someone said two days ago they were interested - I'm waiting for them..."

Just sell the stuff to the first person that gives the cash - with a reservation being say 30mins while someone says I'm on my way....

An this business of posts saying "Sent PM for the XXXXX" is just plain selfish bagging to put others off. I have had this and the member didn't even say they would have it - the PM was a asking if I'd take much less... Or someone else simply asking if it's still available - then nothing...
Let the seller post when it's sold only.
