Petulante has no particular reputation at present
Trams

Trams waiting for half minute for the traffic lights with doors locked while you just stand there and the driver is pretending he's not there to notice you.

Re: Trams

Are you in the tram with the pick pockets or outside waiting to get on? At least it is not raining.

These guys have timetables to adhere to. When a tram is on the move - move meaning after the allotted time at the stop then no they are not going to open the doors (although some may). They don't know when they're going to get the "go" signal and the last thing they need is being delayed by a straggler.

Besides in Zürich the worst case is waiting 10 mins for the next tram.

I can understand getting annoyed with the Postauto driver if the next Postauto is scheduled 30 minutes or an hour later and one lives out in the back of nowhere, depending on that Postauto - but the 7-10 minutes one waits for a tram? C'mon...

The tram Driver has CLEAR and DEFINITE instructions NOT to open the doors until the actual station position is reached

Sure, I loved the old Trams where the doors were always open from March to November and where you could enter or exit at any suitable Moment, for example at traffic lights

Re: Trams

Do like me and sit on the tram stop bench and smoke a cigarette, blow smoke in peoples faces and mumble to yourself for five minutes until the next one trundles up. Then you are sure to get a seat.

What a pathetic complaint.

You suit your name - Petulante.

Re: Trams

Meh, we all enjoy a good rant every now and then.

I'm a Brit, so my life revolves mainly around complaining about the weather and about work. I harbour no grudges and expect no solution, but it's satisfying to get it out of my system.

You lot must be a hard audience at stand-up.

Re: Trams

Blimey, it was just a complaint from the lad... no need to have a pop at him.

It's been explained as to why this occurs, and that will offer some succour should this happen again.

This is the complaints corner. Exactly the place for this sort of thing.

Trams that set off late because the driver waited for some idiot who couldn't be bothered to wait seven minutes for the next one, and so I miss my connecting tram, my train, my flight to the US and the launch of my mission to Mars.

Re: Trams

And then, if you're feeling luck, you get a seat after being pickpocketed and bored to death by the Romanian with his fiddle. You are sat in front of the masturbator.

And life goes on. And you wave at the man in his hummer next to you. All the while seething inside because the driver left you standing frantically pressing the button and making a spectacle of yourself.

I must admit, the other day i did not smoke my ciggie at the tram stop. Because someone was actually smoking a rather nice joint next to me - that was nice second hand smoke.

Though the passenger timetables are posted to 1 minute resolution, Zurich tram drivers in fact have 30-second timetables to keep. As annoying it is when they don't open the doors, I do understand that it's how things must work. (And it makes me extra happy when they do wait for me.)

Re: Trams

This may be wrong in which case don't shoot me, but a friend of mine who should know about these things told me that the signal for the tram to move off will not work until the doors are closed, flashing lights etc. If you open the doors you miss the slot.

Re: Trams

I was on a bus to Altstetten station that was stuck in a long traffic queue - that did not look like moving. The bus was only a hundred metres or so from the stop, and the driver kindly opened the doors to let people off so they could make their trains. So they WILL make exceptions.
