Probably like me and Vermicelles...
Chestnut slugs or chestnut worms - either way, the question remains: Why?

Because chestnut is squashable

OK... I need to think of something else, and fast.

As for worms and slugs, the former I pick up off the street when I see them and the latter - well, I hope for the best and that they find a safe place to slither to because I can't stomach the idea of picking them up. Probably there'll be a ton of them out and about tomorrow after this rainy weather...

Come on guys, vermicelles are much lighter and taste better in this shape, which is actually noodle-shape!!!

I SO like it, and it never ever crossed my mind that it was worm-shaped!

You can have my squashed chestnut then - but I'll keep my mental image of noodles in yellow color with bolognese and cheese rather than in grayish-brown with cream on top. En guete

And as for the worm relation: the dessert is called vermicelles after all... and the vermis link leads to wikipedia

Quite. I can't think why anyone would think either of them was a good idea.

Which reminds me I must go out and eliminate all those slugs that ventured out after the rain today.

Because it's more elegant and tastes better this way than a cubic chunck of chestnut purée, which would be next to impossible to chew and swallow?

Um. I like the chestnut stuff. And lebkuchen. Am trying to wear less black, but man, it's hard. I am thinking of dying my hair various pastel colors though.

Chestnut anything is not a good idea in my opinion. Chestnuts are nice, any form of puréed chestnut is in my opinion.

I do like lebekuchen though and I never wear black.

Re: The micro-RANT thread

I don't know whether I am equally to be blamed, but it so happened that I had to take a super crowded bus (picture the Japanese tube- except that's me pressed to the door), someone wanted to get off at the next stop, and the doors opened- over my toes.

So nursing my swollen toes seems to be a good time to rant- I'd rather buses don't stop if people are crammed like sardines (but then there aren't frequent buses on the route).
My own lesson is to walk on for 15 minutes and take the metro instead.

Re: The micro-RANT thread

People who laugh at others' misfortunes/mishaps.

Two examples:
The metro: Guy about to faint and asks someone for help. Another guy observing this starts grinning.
Migro till: I bump my elbow on the ledge. The checkout assistant breaks into fully-fledged laughter.

I did try to reason that it might be us doing a service when our mishaps makes someone laugh, but it also reeks of sadism.

Re: The micro-RANT thread

Migros employees are clearly distinguishable from Migros customers by their nice orange clothing, and they're very nice people to boot.
So why ask me, someone who clearly isn't a member of staff and simply shopping like all the other rushing customers, where the I-have-never-heard-of-this-thing-in-my-life product is?

Depending on which Migros you go in, you may well know the shop better than the employees.

SLUGS!
mother-f'ers ate all my lupine starts last year. Then all my squash plants. watermelons. cantaloupe. and on and on.

Ive had my baby corn plants in the guest room by the window. Planted 'em out a few days ago. Now they're all showing slug damage already.

That's it, this means WAR!

I'm off to the garden with a flashlight, a squirt bottle of diluted ammonia, and a few beers to help numb the pain (my pain, not the slugs'…)
I race out after every rainfall with my garden shears. No Buddhism here - every offender slug I find gets neatly chopped in two. I get great satisfaction from seeing the green slimey goo, and the birds I guess must chomp on the remains because they disappear within hours... My record is 42 slugs in one chopper session, but my garden looks good!

Booking something online, loading the pass/tickets onto your phone and then being told when showing the ticket, "sorry we only accept paper, but don't worry we can print a copy for you for only €5!"
