Re: The micro-RANT thread

People who, rather than being reliable, expect you to run after them.

So I spontaneously decided that my Sunday will start half a day earlier - people can go and annoy someone else.

Being so engrossed in your phone that you don't notice the lights changing, once alerted you stall your engine, the lights turn back to red and its another 5 minute wait

Re: The micro-RANT thread

Going into Canadian Tire to get a motorcycle battery, and having the guy at the counter tell me that I have to get one from the manufacturer, because the batteries only work with specific manufacturers... Good thing I didn't tell him it was for a lawnmower.

Re: The micro-RANT thread

Canadian Tire, October, some good years ago...

Got for my OH a very nice 3YO Passat, fully loaded. Got winter tires from Canadian Tire, installation included. Drop the car Saturday morning, at opening, was very busy, no point to wait. Around 3pm I get a distressed phone call from CT:
"Sir we need the safety key for your tires"
"Yes, it is in the trunk, with the tire change kit, I checked before dropping the car"
"Sir, is not there, the whole team, including the manager, has looking for it for hours! We found no kit!"
"OK, I will come there"
I go, meet the manager, open the trunk, open the small compartment above the rear passenger wheel and take out the kit and show him the key. I could not believe that none of the the shop stuff have never worked before on a Passat.
I put everything back, asked for my key and drove, never going back to them since...

the problem is not that they never worked with it, but that they can't even read a manual or look it up on the internet. that's the worst kind of people, zero problem solving ability.

Re: The micro-RANT thread

TO be fair the CT money used to look a lot like real money, and I have been able to tell our friends to the south aka people from the UP Michigan that was the president of our country.. of course that was the 80's so....

miss those old days.. seems the tire service has not improved in 30 years..

rant... and the couple may be EFers

Dear Young Couple who were in the S3 (to Villeneuve) at around 1720-1734 yesterday: When a train is crowded, please consider placing the pram in a more responsible way instead of diagonally placing it in such a manner that it obstructed the aisle, preventing passengers from occupying the seats next to you, and the corridor leading to another compartment, and the space dedicated for those who wished to stand. Unlike young ones who could squeeze through the pram barricade, you doubtless also saw the older people with mobility issues giving up getting past and struggling to find a seat. If someone else were insensitive to you and your pram on public transport, I am sure you wouldn't be condoning such an inconsiderate behaviour.

Edelweiss

Booked flights to Hurghada back in April for travel in July for us, kids and aupair. Unfortunately the Aupair has just had to leave early for family reasons and our new aupair starts next week. So call up Edelweiss and ask whether there is anyway we can do a name change so the new aupair can come with us.
No, not allowed as per fare conditions.

In the meantime, fares of our original flight have almost doubled. So I ask whether I could at least cancel the original ticket and re-buy the ticket at the same or similar price.
No, not possible.

Of course they're not wrong, but come on Edelweiss, a little flexibility and goodwill would go a long way.

p.s. I tried two different CS operatives plus an email just in case I get a nice one

Name changes are not even allowed with Flex or Business class tickets, but I guess cancellation would be.

Surely this should also be added to the first world problem thread.

Either force the Aupair to change her name, or move the post over to the FWP one.

Have you no problem solving skills whatsoever?

I'd have said that a Micro-Rant might have been a misspelled name. But changing Au-pairs after you booked a flight, so that the Au-pair goes on holiday for you is most definitely a FWP.

What do you need the Au-pair to do for you while on holiday?

Re: The micro-RANT thread

wanted to buy a box of MagicTG cards for a friend as i know he collect those things from the EF marketplace...the guy selling them not only refuses to take a picture of the cards, but is downright condescending

"Hi, the point is that if I would take the time to do that, i could post them on ricardo for 1-2 CHF each and still get people buying them. "

does he really expect anyone will buy the set based on his word that its not filled with sheets of plain paper...

Try contacting these people:

http://www.mollybglutenfree.com/

Their stuff is good, they may send small orders to private individuals. Last I heard they were trying to break into the European market but were finding it a challenge to get through all the certification hoops.
