Newbies barging in on the EF with an "I need/I want"

I know, I know, it's been discussed a million times already...

What's more, is how much effort you have to go into signing up for EF to finally post up your question in a new thread / find vaguely relevant existing thread and wait for someone to answer, compared to just plugging the keywords into Google.

The mind boggles.

Google has no "precise answer served on a silver platter" service included.

Re: The micro-RANT thread

Why are the Swiss so super efficient. Sitting at home with a sick kid and I get a call from the kitchen company that they will send an fitter to fix my cupboard today. Great I think, looking at my kid snoozing on the sofa, at least that makes one thing easier. 'Welche Zeit?' I ask, ' nicht sicher, aber nachmittag' comes the answer. So he turns up at 11:30. My daughter is naked and about to go in the shower. I havn't washed up after the multiple aborted breakfasts. Sigh.
Poor guy.

Your kid is sick - take a break from trying to be even more Swiss.
Good luck

Dinner is bubbling. Nice smells wafting. Waiting for bums on seats & smiling happy family.
a) They walk through the door... "actually I had a big lunch so I am not hungry".
b) I forgot to tell you I have X this evening & have to go straight back out.
c) They don't even walk through the door or ring up to tell you where they are.

Full sympathy. That is my life.

I'll come over and help you eat it. AND appreciate it.

Re: The micro-RANT thread

To all the selfish morons who donít know how to use the Kiss and Fly at Geneva Airport.

Itís a cyclical thing: a whole lane of cars can drive in, deposit their passengers at the same time, and drive off - almost as one. Then the next cohort of cars can drive in and so it continues.

You drive in as far as you can, ie up to where the car in front has stopped Ė or if youíre the first, right to the end of the lane.
You then get out, unload the luggage, kiss (no tongues) / briefly hug / shake hands, whatever is appropriate, and you get back in your car and drive off.

Itís that simple.

It doesnít work if you wait in your car chatting while the rest of us unload, then drive to somewhere convenient for you to stop close to your check-in gate. Then search for passport and boarding pass. Then linger over fond farewells Ė itís not bleeding Brief Encounter. (If it is, drive down below and park for longer, and have a cup of tea with Stanley Holloway lurking in the background.)

To work, it requires consideration on everyoneís part. Itís a perfect example of how just one or two people can screw up a system inconveniencing hundreds.

And relax. Thatís better.

Re: The micro-RANT thread

Geneva Airport - not to mention that every time you go there they have closed car parks/moved car parks/people all over the place not knowing which lane to be in. BTW you can pee in the airport for free (preferably in a toilet) but if you go to the train station section, you have to pay.

Why hasn't Europe adopted the curved shower bar? I hate wet plastic stuck to the side of my body.

Re: The micro-RANT thread

Try reducing the length of the shower curtain. It sticks to you when it's too long.

Europe has! We've even adopted P shaped baths to eradicate the issue even further. I'm having one fitted in my UK bathroom, complete with curved shower curtain rail, in 3 weeks time.

They're fabulous. Pair it with a kick-ass large circumference shower head and you'll never look back!

No No my little friend.

You should be asking how broad my chest is.

Pair that with these tiny Euro hotel tubs and I can only shower sideways.

Haven't you heard? The UK isn't part of Europe anymore.

And my hotel this weekend near Twickenham did have a curved rod-which was refreshing and reminded me of this rant.

Go Roses!
